2. Look up popular baby names in the US
you can usually find the popular names listed by year

You might not find the exact number of boys named George...but you can ascertain if the name has gotten more or less popular...

17. This program is fun! Some interesting facts I've discovered...
Jesus, Mohamed, Christian have been rising steadily in popularity.
Mary has declined steadily in popularity

Bart was very popular and dropped to almost non-existent in the early 1990's.

Olivia is the only popular name for girls that begins with an O.

The name, Unknown, was ranked 797 in 1940 (This could be a data collecting error?)

Names that were very popular in the 18th century, lost popularity, and have since become very popular again:
Benjamin
Emma
Ella
Grace
Sarah

5. George has not been all that popular of a name for a while now
Edited on Thu Jul-20-06 04:19 PM by SoCalDem
I suspect that parents may give it as a middle name, in deference to a family member, but I surely don't think many are naming their sons after George, the lesser

after checking a link on this thread.. George has not been in the top 100 for ANY year ..at least from 2000-2005

10. I just Googled and found the coolest thing:
http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html

Apparently, the name George has been on a steady decline since the peak it enjoyed at the end of the 19th century at the rank of #4. Since the 1990s, it has fallen from 107th to 139th in 2005, although it dropped to its lowest point during the election year of 2004: 148th.

12. Interestingly, the name John, though also on a steady decline
since its #1 position in the 18th century, is currently ranked #18.

Clearly, I have too much time on my hands as well. :D

13. my named peaked at 57 in the 1930's
and has declined to not be in the top 1000 since 2003. Which makes sense as I seldom meet others with the same name. :(

I guess I am a little Snowflake myself... :D

Ogle? Klickitat? Saline?

Just kidding - don't want to give it away if anyone else is trying to figure it out. Oddly enough, I used to live in 'your' county.

Interesting (and fun) link.
Clinton is making a comeback. Lyndon had a very short-lived popularity.
