Blind Man Holding Food Fatally Shoots Wife
Blind Man Holding Food Fatally Shoots Wife

MORGANTON, N.C. (AP) -- A man who is legally blind accidentally shot and killed his wife while trying to balance a plate of fried chicken and a pistol, authorities said.

Kelly Honeycutt, of Morganton, was moving into a new home with his wife, Norita, on Monday night.

Honeycutt, who found the .38-caliber pistol in a box, shot his wife in the head after she handed him the food, Burke County Sheriff's Sgt. Robert Beall said.

Beall said no charges were filed by investigators, but the case was sent to the county prosecutor's office for a final determination.

Beall said the husband was more than 50 percent blind, had limited movement and was in advanced stages of multiple sclerosis. His wife was his caretaker.

4. "his wife was his caretaker"
no good deed goes unpunished

so this "legally blind" (not totally blind) man just somehow by accident puts a gun to his wife's head and blows her away while she's handing him dinner? sounds damn fishy to me, i'm sorry, sounds like he'll walk tho

9. That's why they call 'em gun nuts....
By the way, guns for the blind was an idiotic idea being pushed in the gungeon here on DU a few years ago.

12. Speaking of going to hell, I wonder if a poll was done today...
...on whether, given only these options, people would drop their chicken or shoot their spouse.
