Meth still top drug problem in U.S., study finds
WASHINGTON - Meth abuse continues to fuel an increase in crimes like robbery and assault, straining the workload of local police forces despite a drop in the number of meth lab seizures, according to a survey released Tuesday.

Nearly half of county law enforcement officials consider methamphetamine their primary drug problem, more than cocaine, marijuana and heroin combined, the survey of the National Association of Counties found.

"Abuse of this highly addictive brain-altering drug continues to destroy lives and strain essential county services across America," said Bill Hansell, the association's president and commissioner of Umatilla County, Ore.

What network reported that the meth problem was blown out of proportion and it wasn't really that bad? They should be called out.

1. what they were claiming was that the new laws banning cold meds
would have a huge effect on the use of meth. Thankfully, it has cut down on the number of mini labs, but it has had no effect on the number of users.

I said when they passed that law, they just made some Mex. drug lords very happy.

5. I know 3 people personally who have
fucked themselves royally with meth.

My uncle- became schizo on the shit. He's been clean for several years and is still returning to "normal." Unfortunately, he replaced his addiction to meth with an addiction to God.

A good friend of mine lost so much weight (she used to ber very overweight so it didn't bother her- she thought it was a good thing, and didn't think about how unhealthy it is to lose that much weight that fast)- so much weight, so fast, that she had wrinkly flaps of skin just hanging off of her. She had started getting delusional too, the last I saw her.

My step brother got addicted to the shit and can't hold a job, pay bills, and treats his dad, his brother, and our shared half brother, like shit. He may still have a chance, but someone is enabling him... and knowing him, I think he will have to hit a pretty fucking low point to realize what he's doing to himself.

6. It makes people psycho.
My father in law was murdered last year by a paranoid meth addict who lived in his neighborhood. It's nasty shit.

7. It sure is
Nasty, nasty shit.

I was talking to my mom the other day... about how isn't it fucked that for us to truly understand how horrible the drug is, we have to see it with our own eyes? Because we knew why our uncle was crazy.... but we didn't see that transformation with our own eyes. By we, I mean myself and my little brother.

We both as we got older, tried the shit ourselves. And it was through him watching his brother- and me watching my friend- that we really began to understand how awful that drug is.

Now I am an advocate for most drugs being legalized, or at the very least, marijuana being legalized... but not meth. Meth is the worst drug out there. They've said that about most drugs, I'm sure- but I've known a lot of drug users, and I've never seen one in worse shape then the ones using meth. Maybe I'm wrong- but that's just what I've seen with my own eyes.
