Christian Newswire:Democrats' Abortion Politics Trumps Women's Healthcare
Democrats' Abortion Politics Trumps Women's Healthcare / Like Tobacco-State Congressmen, Democrats Protect Cancer-Causing Industry, Influence Scientific Decision-Making

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., July 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer, a women's group, denounced U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman and other Democrats on the House Government Reform Committee for advancing the interests of the abortion industry at the expense of women's health.

In their recent report, Waxman and other abortion enthusiasts on the committee attacked crisis pregnancy centers, in part because their personnel inform women about research supporting an abortion-breast cancer (ABC) link. <1>

<snip>

The cancer establishment already acknowledges another cancer risk resulting from abortion. The American Cancer Society's website says, "Much of the long-term underlying increase in (breast cancer) incidence among women is due to historical changes in reproductive patterns, such as delayed childbearing and having fewer children." <4>

Childbearing protects women from the disease because a third trimester process in pregnancy matures cancer-vulnerable breast tissue into cancer-resistant tissue.
This benefit is lost through abortion. Experts, therefore, agree that the woman who has an abortion has a greater risk than does the woman who has a baby.

So what is not being said is that it's not really abortion that is the cause of increased breast cancer risk, it is not having a baby. The woman would have the same increased risk had she never been pregnant in the first place. However the anti-choicers prefer to try to link it to the abortion procedure to induce fear and support their agenda.

Interesting. The Religious Wrong gets so concerned about women having cancer when they can rail against abortion. But they don't care about cancer when they are denouncing a vaccine that could prevent cervical cancer because it might "cause promiscuity".

What hypocrites.

2. Indeed
The "abortion-breast cancer" link has been in the news, but it's been refuted. The fundies don't believe it of course as it doesn't fit with their agenda.

3. Even by the fundies' logic, it's about birthrate, not abortion.
A woman who had ten late-term abortions would be at lower risk than a nun!
