Gingrich: ‘This Is, In Fact, World War III’ And The U.S. ‘Ought To Be Hel
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 02:53 PM by pberq
Fellow DUers: we know that Bush and the GOP are in trouble, but hey, what wonders a nice big war could do for them.

Randi Rhodes said just now that the GOP is going to warmonger its way through the mid-term elections.

http://thinkprogress.org/2006/07/16/newt-world-war/

This morning on Meet the Press, Newt Gingrich argued we have entered World War III and that the United States ought to engage the effort by “helping the Lebanese government have the strength to eliminate Hezbollah as a military force.” Watch it:

As Matt Stoller points out, Gingrich was also quoted today suggesting that President Bush should be framing the current violence as World War III for the benefit of the fall elections.

(edited to add commment)

1. Newt's confused. It's Marriage III.
And I'm sure Newt's idea of matrimony is much like a global conflict.

3. Why doesn't he shut his cakehole?
What office does he hold? Why should anyone care what he thinks? It's possible that if he were president he would be more neo-con than Bush.

7. Is this THE Newt Gingrich, who was forced to resign as SOTH
after his own neo-con fascist Repukes told him too?

Is this THE Newt Gingrich who was caught on tape plotting to interfere with the House Ethics Committee right after he told the Committee he wouldn't do so?

Is this THE Newt Gingrich who was getting blowjobs from his concubine while his wife laid bedstricken from cancer in a hospital?

Yeah, I thought so. STFU Newt!!!

6. Gotta love Newt, with his glib, easy answers
Now, how does the Lebanese government do this?

Hold military prayer sessions, cull out all the Lebanese soldiers praying like shi'ites, and shoot them???

Hiz b'Allah HAS infiltrated the Lebanese Army.

Grab all the Hiz b'Allah politicians, line them up, AND shoot them?

Hiz b'Allah has inserted itself into the government.

Newt's a MORON...but then, what else is new?

This isn't a simple matter of telling the government that they are naughty; they're in a horrible position--a good slice of their infrastructure (and their social services "safety net" of schools, clinics, widows funds, and what have you) IS Hiz b'Allah. Who picks up THAT slack????

8. There was a skit on Ed Schultz' show, made to sound like the news.
After the guy did the news and before Ed came back on, the news guy read "Surgery has just been completed to remove joe Biden's foot from Newt Gingrich's ass!"

I honestly thought it was still part of the news until he said the names! Too funny! U know the two of them were on one of the Sunday TV shows, but I didn't see it. I heard Biden slammed Newt pretty well!

10. It'll have to wait until they "finish the job" in Iraq first.
Give them another 10 or 20 years.

11. I actually wonder if that is true.
I know we keep hearing that our army is all tied down in the Neoclown Iraqi Blunder, but I am not convinced that this is not a propaganda charade to convince the Syrians and Iranians that they will not face their own shock'n'awe.

12. fact-we can't afford a large military

yes posturing is being used for political purposes.the repukes need to hold both houses if they
want to "stay the course". thats high oil prices and huge deficits.also it's the only way the major players will stay out of jail!
look for major bank failures in "o9"
