How to use the Rapture Index to our advantage
I was over looking at Rapture Ready today, http://www.raptureready.com/rap2.html
The index is up 2 points from last week at 157
One head line on the site says "Nearing Midnight" In depth weekly commentary http://www.raptureready.com/rap16.html

Studying the Rapture Ready index I notices some of the issues they use to drive the index. Things like Abortion, Leadership, Drug Abuse and Liberalism.
Yes the Liberalism in this country effects the Rapture Index.

We need to use this against the fundies, we can convince them that by electing Liberal candidates this fall they will be doing their part to expedite the Rapture.
We know they can be convinced of anything, they are buying the Rapture and they voted for bu$h twice.

Bring on the Rapture - Vote Democrat

1. I saw the guy with the blue turbine on TV yesterday.
Not sure what that has to do with anything but the fundies seem to get excited about it whenever it comes up in conversation.

4. About the blue turbin
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 11:25 AM by Mabus
Nostradamus said the anti-christ would wear a blue turbin. That's why they are so happy.

here's an example
Somewhere Nostradamus said something about the third and final Anti-Christ wearing a blue turbin. OK so all these neo christian conservitives have jumped all over this as meaning Saddam or some other Muslim of the week is the Anti-christ. http://rigint.blogspot.com/2006/06/open-thread.html

7. August 3rd significance?
What about August 3rd? I read yesterday they were excited about 40 days from the start of the current conflict to Aug.3. Any idea?

9. I think it is the 40 days not Aug. 3 that's important
Examples: Jesus spent 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness and during Noah's time it rained for 40 days and 40 nights, hence his ark.

That's the best I can figure.

10. So Nostradamus trumps Revelation, now?
This is a particularly nutty group.

2. I just refer them to Amos 5:18-24
That's the passage that ends with "Let justice roll down like a flood and righteousness like a mighty river." But the first part is where I like to direct the attention of the rapturous, and remind them that there are no guarantees that they'll be spared the tribulation. After all, those 144,000 folks in Revelation with the blood-cleansed robes didn't just get a free pass.

I don't believe in this crapola (anymore), but it's sometimes useful to speak to them in language they will understand.

And on that I will agree with you it's just that I find it hard to adopt in that it is predominately based in hysteria.

But the speaker for Hezbola, or at least that's who the news channels said he was, released a tape yesterday and I noticed he was wearing a blue turban. I thought I bet the end timers will go over the edge. LOL.

Anyone know some of the end timers bulletin boards? I would like to see if they even noticed.

6. Based not just in hysteria but a sort of spiritual arrogance
Arrogance based on the notion that all of history has been leading up to this very point so that these certain raptured individuals would be the culmination, justificiation, and vindication of all that has gone on before: "Yes, your child died a horrible cruel death, but the Lord Jesus is coming to save ME! So it's all okay, don't you see?" Additionally, this also absolves them from lifting a finger to do anything to alleviate suffering because they thing that all these things must happen before the end, and if God has ordained it, who are they to stand in the way? A very convenient theology not only for all the pain and suffering around them, but also for allowing them to stand aside as it's all going on so as not to interfere with the divine plan.

But in order to pierce the hysteria, it's necessary to make some kind of contact. It probably won't happen all at once, but if they are going to be cured of their being so heavenly minded that they're no earthly good, it's imperative to show them that they just might, at some critical juncture, have missed the boat of what Jesus was saying. That is, that the central message of the Gospel, surprisingly enough, isn't "Burn in Hell motherfuckers, I got mine!"

* * *

As for the fellow in the blue turban, don't worry; these folks don't miss the most minute detail of anything, whether it exists or not. :)

3. WTF? They have "Gog" on the index but no "Magog" How can you have a
"Rapture Index" and leave out Magog? The site must run by a false prophet, maybe the AntiChrist himself.
