gas. That Iran will profit from it and America will fall into a Depression

its called Economic Warfare and Bush has made us extremely vulnerable to it...

But alas the Saudis will profit from it too...

3. Interesting
Why do I get the feeling that in the board rooms at Chevron, Exxon, Shell and the rest, champagne bottles are being cracked open and there are smiles all around. War in the ME is almost as good as a hurricane when you're looking for ready made excuses to gouge your customers. Those retirement mansions on the slopes of Aspen don't pay for themselves, you know.

6. Did you mean $200?
Because it probably hasn't been $20 for at least 40 years or more.

16. Thanks. I did not know the exact numbers.
Makes sense. I was paying around $1.39 when Bush took office and I thought it had gotten kind of high then. :(

15. This can't be true. If it was, how would Jed Clampett have had
all that money to put in Mr. Drysdale's bank? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me duh, ahh, umm, duh, umm...whatever.

14. At that price a lot of non-OPEC, non-Iranian...
...non-Arab, non-oil options become eminently feasable.

Hezbollah wants $200/barrel oil?

Not bloody likely

17. no offense but I believe that is BS
we are talking about a world market, and as much as we like to think of us as the only one in the world there are other countries

who buy oil and help determine the price

Of course if they did push oil up to that high, they would price themselves out of business within 10 years. In that time or less, alternative fuels would then take over. In fact it would be interesting because the mideast would not have the importance it has now. Yes, there would be initial pain in the first several years, but it would also accelerate our independence over oil
