BREAKING: DU'ers project own country's evil onto Israel!
DU'ers seem to be loving this "pile on Israel" thing.

It's almost like we can ignore our own country's (more) rancorous behavior if we can just find someone else to demonize.

Everybody here needs to pull the friggin' mote out of their own country's eye first if you ask me.

Yeaj, I agree, Isreal is committing a terrible wrong here, but talk about disproportianate response!

People here talk like Israel the living embodiment of evil.

Methinks they project too much.

3. Yes, Lest We Forget
we attacked Saddam Hussein's Iraq and killed at least 100K civilians there in retaliation for the loss of 3K people on 9/11 who were killed by 15 Saudis and 4 from other ME countries, and NONE of them from Iraq!

Now that is the mother of all disproportionate responses!

30. This is part of the problem...Any discussion that includes Israel
is immediately closed. Why should any group of people be beyond discussion or criticism? We discuss, praise and criticize everyone else on these boards, so why not Israel as well? If these kinds of discussions had been allowed all along, in a sensible way, then so many people would not have built up questions about Israel's current actions.

6. "Israel the living embodiment of evil"
Edited on Sat Jul-15-06 01:24 PM by The_Casual_Observer
Israel is a place of endless grief, bombings, fear, and reprisal for the sake of reprisal. It isn't evil. It is what it is and will never change. Some choose to live in flood plains too.

11. Did I miss all the posts over the last few years about
Minimum wage, Health Care, Ken Lay, Corruption in Government, Torture, Lobbyists, Corruption in Corporations Iraq, Katrina, The Supreme Court, Electronic Voting, etc, etc? Israel happens to be somewhat in the news these past few days so one suspects that might be the cause for folks offering their opinions.

One does not substitute for the other. They are both wrong as could be.

What makes you think we can't attack both when they behave like gorillas?

13. Israel is part of "our own country's (more) rancorous behavior"...
They are engaged in brutal occupation, just like the U.S., and they do it with our support, both financial and political.

They have oppressed the Palestinians for years, shooting and kidnapping and imprisoning them,
and bulldozing their homes and their crops,

Israel, like the U.S. is an evil aggressor.

Fuck the U.S.!....and fuck Israel!

14. US support of Israel is the point, isn't it? Supply of arms, etc.
Since 1976, Israel had been the largest annual recipient of U.S. foreign assistance. According to a November 2001 Congressional Research Service report, Israel: U.S. Foreign Assistance, U.S. aid to Israel in the last half century has totaled a whopping $81.3 billion.

22. Sometimes the truth hurts.
It's not that difficult really.

Israel is especially evil because of the actions of a supposedly democratic country. A big majority support the mistreatment of the Palestinians and approve of aggressive action in general. They have no remorse for the countless innocents they abuse and/or kill.

Now, when Busholini called nations evil, they weren't democracies. There people had no voice, so those nations can't be considered evil. Now do you get the difference?

21. I agree. IMO Israel will take a beating over the obvious fact
that their war mongering has caused gas prices to rise. The unintended consequences of this go around is the car addicted can see the obvious bad impact to their dearly loved life style.

28. Just to be clear: I DO NOT SUPPORT ISRAEL'S ACTIONS!
Not one bit! But I am Jewish and I feel quite a lot of hostility here and it is hard to belive that NONE of it represents anti-semitism.

Jews have done more for the Democratic party than probably any other minority and it hurts to see liberals attacking.

Yes, Israel is doing much, much wrong as is the US. But that doesn't mean that Americans are evil.

(a terrorist act) in response to military-only attacks by the extreme Muslim organizations?

If so, you are no Liberal.
