More of Jeus' finest words....
Bush, the pretend fundamentalist, claims to believe all of the Bible, inerrantly, to use Falwell's word, but does he consider this?

Matt 7:21-27 "Not everyone who says to Me ,'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' 24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

1. Most fundies pay NO attention to Jesus' life, words, works and ministry
An "acceptance of Jesus Christ as your PERSONAL savior" is what they think is important; as long as you have done this, it doesn't seem to matter what else you do...
I once forced myself to listen to Falwell's "Old Time Gospel Hour" and heard not ONE MENTION of the name of Jesus...it was all political screed, and hate-driven judgmentalism of anyone who disagreed with his feminist-bashing, gay-bashing, rah-rah-rich-people ranting.
How can it possibly be Gospel, with no Jesus?

The hypocrisy of these people is apalling.

Talk the talk, and who cares if you walk the walk?

Chimpy was once asked (when he claimed to have been reading Scripture just that morning) what he had read, and he got all pissy and defensive and could not answer the question...clearly lying through his teeth, as usual. It's all an act. Pure pandering.

2. Fundies remind me of the Pharisees of Jesus' time
Most Fundies are so preoccupied with how people dress, how they act, etc that they don't really care too much about the actual message of Jesus - love thy neighbor, don't judge, feed the poor, etc. Methinks that if Jesus were to return to Earth, he'd walk right into Benny Hinn's and all these other televangelists' churches and start tearing shit up.

4. EXACTLY! I have been saying for years that people like Robertson and
Falwell and the prosperity-theology televangelists are nothing more than modern-day Pharisees. And of course, they are either just as clueless and self-delusional as all other rePiglicans, or they are just shameless whores for money and power.

5. I am right there with you......
but I am working on the forgiveness thing.....because as we judge others, we are no different from them. Jesus wants us to forgive first, and never judge. When we hate others for what they do, it is just a projection of what we hate about ourselves. To forgive others is to basically forgive ourselves. As an experiment, I would challenge anyone to try forgiving someone, just that guy in front of you with a W-'04 sticker, especially after you judge him, you will notice some pressure release! Next time someone challenges you about your beliefs (bumper sticker), just say "I forgive you": it will blow your mind right along with theirs.
