Anti-black racism embedded in the Democratic Party leadership?
Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 10:26 AM by benburch
UPDATE: show posted; http://www.whiterosesociety.org/Brown.html

Basically, there is a huge lack of respect for black politicians in the Democratic party. Now, is this just blindness? Is it unconsidered internalized racism? I don't know. But you do need to listen to this conversation.

But while you are waiting for the archive to post, do you have any stories of your own of instances where African-American politicians have been give the short end of the stick from the Democratic Party? Passed over for support for inexperienced white candidates? Not invited to meetings with Party leadership that other local candidates were invited to?

I think we need to do better than this, friends. And we can't let any more gray hair sprout on our heads before we do this.

Listen to the show, please. Archive can be found at http://www.WhiteRoseSociety.org/Brown.html in about an hour.

Please K&R this? Thanks.

2. Who is being interviewed?
Could you give more details? What party leadership are you describing? Congress?

3. A Panel of St Louis Area politicians.
And as for Party Leadership, specifically the Missouri Democratic Party and the National Democratic Party and the DFA were mentioned.

Sorry, but I did not take any notes as I was listening.

4. All you have to do is watch the beginning of F-9/11
to see how the Black Caucus is treated by some in Congress...

5. I think it's more anti-progressive than anti-black.
Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 10:24 AM by Gabi Hayes
the fact that they're black is part of the reason why they're progressive, but how does one distinguish between the two positions, other than they espouse, obviously, progressive solutions to racial problems.

their other progressive stances are more of a reason for DLC DINOs to oppose them.

as Poster #4 stated, they were the only ones to stand up against the election theft in 2000, agreed, because of black disenfranchisement, but they were still the ONLY ones to do so. they stand for US, the disenfranchised majority, who have NOBODY else to represent them, particularly our spineless DINO "leadership"

is there any other sort of progressive coalition in congress?

9. The only ones to officially protest the 2000 election
were the Black Caucus and not one White Congressman joined with them. Not one.

13. To say there is a lack of respect is entirely different from calling them
anti-black. Is this the terminology used by the participants, or your own take on the issue.

14. I disagree to an extent
Of course there is a degree of racism in some form in every institution, but I don't think it is a large problem for Democrats. If we win the House, there will be at least 4 black committee chairmen and even more subcommittee chairmen, that would be more than ever.

15. Just out with it already
I don't know which show you're talking about, I refuse to wait 30 minutes for a show to download when I don't know how long I'll have to listen to it or exactly what I'm listening for. Either put up a specific clip of what you're talking about or just straight up spill it.
