There they go again: Repukes bashing Dems over new ad
showing coffins of dead soldiers. "I'm outraged." "This is shameful." "I have never seen politics sink so low."

What a bunch of fucking hypocrites!

8. Don't they, though.
They don't want the flag draped coffins shown, because they want to keep the war as unreal to the people not fighting it on the front lines as possible.

60. One of the main reasons...
... for not wanting the flag draped coffins to be shown can be linked to what was one of the main things that turned the tide against the war in Viet Nam... The number of pictures of body bags and coffins returning from that "little skirmish"

It was not until then that mainstream america realized that the war protesters were right.

25. good point.
we will never win an argument with a repub by saying, well... the Repugs exploited 911 and wore purple bandaides.... as true as it is...

we have to hit back with something like "it is unpatriotic not to show the flag draped coffins and honor our soldiers for the sacrifice that they have made." It is unpatriotic to encourage the citizens of the United States to continue with their daily lives without reminding them of the sacrifices of our young men and women in the service. The sacrifices and actions of our soldiers, veterans benefits and soldiers families' welfare should always be at the forefront of our national discussions and debates. It is despicable that some members of the Republican party want the public to ignore these things.

33. Yes, very true...
it shows the most "costly" effect, war has...and flag drapped coffins is, just that. Our biggest cost in war=our dead soldiers. And, I believe that the mainstream needs to be reminded that, war is ugly, and is brutal, otherwise, its just a video game, or a tv show...and thats, just plain wrong.

41. They try to hide all the costs of the war, the dead being the
biggest cost, as you say. They also want to hide the monetary cost of the war, by not including the money they ask for in the budget. They hide -- as much as they can -- the truth about what is really going on in Iraq and Afghanistan. They want their war, but they don't want to take responsibility for the consequences of said war.

48. very true SeattleGirl!
They want the public to rally around the war, without giving the public the actual costs of the war. They don't want the public "bothered" by the consequences of the death, injury and destruction that is being done.

How horrible for the Public to be exposed to flag draped coffins!! It is just unthinkable - isn't it????

Actually we should all see more of the actual effects of this * imposed war.

They see only black and white, good and evil, right and wrong (by their definition). Anything even slightly subtle, even the most obvious (to some of us) bit of irony goes right over their pointy little heads.

That's probably what they would say, if someone brought that up. Their mantra is "Do as we say, not as we do." And they hope that the entire country is to freakin' stupid to figure them out. Got news for them, though. Yes, there are a number of people who are too freakin' stupid, but there are more of us who are not. We see what they are doing. Now, if we can just get them out of here.

So let me see if I have it right:

It's shameful to show the coffins of all the young Americans who have had to DIE in a bullshit war, based on the lies of their commander in chief...

BUT:

It's NOT shameful to blatantly lie to those same troops about the reason they were going to sacrifice their young lives in a country that posed NO threat to anyone.

Ok, I get it.

Ohhh, those despicable Democrats! How dare they point out the biggest fuck up committed by the biggest fuck up to ever occupy the White House!

They think it they same something, it means it's true. It they put up enough red, white, and blue signs, everything is fine. Bullshit. They can do that all they want; it's not going to bring back all the dead military men and women, not to mention all the dead Iraqi citizens and the news people who have been injured and killed. Hell, pay no attention to the reality folks. The Repukes have it under control -- just look at all our patriotic signs!

We spend our weekends with Vets and they all know the real score. Even though most of them are Repubs, not one will be voting party line. Our Dem Senators helped save one of the hospitals that these guys use for medical services. The GOP are making idiots of themselves on this issue. I should be happy but too many people have suffered at their hands.

This angers me to no end, too, Deb. It's absolutely shameful what they have done, and continue to do, to the men and women who volunteered for military service. They deserve much better then they're getting.

Subject:
Tasteless? Did you say tasteless in your press conference today?

To:
Rep. Geoff Davis

July 13, 2006

That stunt of a press conference on a democratic ad was a joke. Want to talk about tasteless, look at your own political party. The last six years of the Bush Administration and Republican control has been tasteless to over 65% of the American people. From ignored warnings on Bin Laden, a war based on phony intel on a country not involved with 9/11, cronyism with Haliburton, Bechtel et al in Iraq, Katrina and "Brownie", tax cuts for the rich while the middle class are going broke. The rape of the environment, the gutting of the National Treasury, the outing of CIA agents, wasting our tax money on BS Terri Schiavo, flag burning, gay marriage legislation, the out of control deficit. I could go on for two more pages. I cannot wait till you crooked Republican are all sitting on your pork butts at home looking for a job and no longer have any more power to ruin my country.

Hypocritical pigs, all of you.
