tonight."

On edit and answer to below. It was his opening statement tonight. He doesn't usually start off like that.

5. Why don't you just turn the channel rather than wishing death on people?

10. I Don't Watch Him....
But since there are "surprised" people here who do, I reacted accordingly.

And I could care less about some corporate media whore, so if I feel like wishing death upon them, that's my right.

19. Thank you!
I actually like Bob Scheiffer personally and I agree with Walter Cronkite that he would have been a better pick than Dan Rather in 1981.

4. wrong bob...
I heard a Military mouthpiece on CNN today who said the news media is NOT REPORTING THE GOOD THINGS! Like aborted attacks! Lots of aborted attacks!

It was pretty damn pathetic.

9. yes
I listened to him and thought it was 1968 again and I was 10 years old and the Vietnam War had "a light at the end of the tunnel". :(

11. I was taking a leak at the time and was so astounded by what he
said that I missed the bowl. Have you seen the trailer for U.S. vs. John Lennon? Nixon essentially saying "when the Vietnamese stand up, we'll stand down."

18. Bob Schieffer is a Bush whore...
Here's his unbiased reporting on Bush's codpiece performance...

The weekend news programs brought even more praise for Bush's performance. On the May 4, 2003, edition of CBS' Face the Nation, host Bob Schieffer and Time columnist Joe Klein had this to say:

SCHIEFFER: As far as I'm concerned, that was one of the great pictures of all time. And if you're a political consultant, you can just see campaign commercial written all over the pictures of George Bush.

KLEIN: Well, that was probably the coolest presidential image since Bill Pullman played the jet fighter pilot in the movie Independence Day. That was the first thing that came to mind for me. And it just shows you how high a mountain these Democrats are going to have to climb. You compare that image, which everybody across the world saw, with this debate last night where you have nine people on a stage and it doesn't air until 11:30 at night, up against Saturday Night Live, and you see what a major, major struggle the Democrats are going to have to try and beat a popular incumbent president.

I suspected Schieffer of slanted coverage during the debates between Gore and Bush. This only reinforces that suspicion.

20. Is that the best you've got? A description of an image as political?
If you look at what's being said: "you can just see campaign commercial written all over the pictures of George Bush", you might consider that Schieffer had just nailed Bush for staging an obviously political event.

That picture did resonate with a lot of Bush's base, especially the crazy freeper women who think of * as sexy. In other words, Schieffer's observation was correct. And it is not necessarily flattering to Bush.

He's not free to suggest that * shoved a sock in his crotch for political benefit. Yet, the observation that the staged photo has political 'written all over it' is only slanted if you let Mediamatters do your thinking for you.

and you forgot to add that Schieffer considers Bush one of his "close personal friends"

21. I generally like Bob Schieffer, but he was bad tonight.
In his opening bit on the Hezbollah-Israel conflict, he didn't even refer to Hezbollah. Instead he used "the terrorists" twice. Shame on kindly Uncle Bob!
