Jeanine Pirro's husband ticketed for driving 98 mph
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) -- Albert Pirro, husband of state attorney general candidate Jeanine Pirro, has been ticketed for driving his Mercedes-Benz 98 miles an hour in a 55 mph zone.

The speeding ticket is just the latest of several embarrassments Pirro, 59, has caused his ambitious wife, the former Westchester County district attorney and now the Republican candidate for attorney general. He was in federal prison for tax fraud during her last re-election campaign and he fathered an illegitimate daughter after they were married.

Anne Marie Corbalis, a spokeswoman for Jeanine Pirro's campaign, said Wednesday she had no comment on the speeding ticket. A message left at Albert Pirro's office was not immediately returned.

(snip)

The maximum penalty for driving more than 30 mph over the limit is a $600 fine and 30 days in jail. In addition, because Pirro is accused of going more than 40 mph over the limit, he faces suspension of his license if convicted.

6. I wouldn't do it with traffic around.
It was a totally clear straight highway with perfect road conditions. I could see miles ahead of me. The car was brand new and fast, so why not let it rip for a few miles? I can't endanger people that aren't there.

Normally, I drive around 75mph which is the flow of traffic around here (speed limit is 65mph).

7. What does his behavior have anything to do with her qualifications
This is the typical male chauvinist thinking that says the wife is a total reflection of her husband and the wife's lot in life is totally determined by her husband.

Also maybe in WI, you avoid speeding as all traffic tickets are posted online for all to see. They call that open government, I call it Big Brother. In NY and TX (as well as several other states), your driving record is private and material on the record is deleted in due time.

9. What if his behavior went a little deeper than a traffic ticket?

Like doing 11 months in prison for tax evasion and being under investigation for ties to organized crime?

4. No biggie. That's about the average speed for drivers here in No. Georgia.
Especially on 285 and I-75. Even if you are going 80, there is some jerk tailgating you.

8. OMG I75 and 285
Probably the two scariest sections of road I have ever driven, in my entire life.

My hubby, who has never been on either of these roads, or their corresponding outerbelts, has been informed by me that in his lifetime, I will be making him drive on one of them....just so he can see what I am talking about when I discuss driving on them.

I think we may have to take a trip to get some peaches! (another thing he does not understand...the absolute glory of a Georgia peach, sold at road side, that has never seen a refrigerator)...sigh
