TPM teaser: Hoekstra accuses members of US Intel of working w/for Al Qaeda
Following up on the Chairman Hoekstra quote below apparently he's now actually accusing members of the US intel community of working with and/or for al Qaida, just as his quote below suggests. I hear there's a big article on this about to pop. So I guess we'll be hearing more very soon.

-- Josh Marshall

Hoekstra quote: "More frequently than what we would like, we find out that the intelligence community has been penetrated, not necessarily by al Qaeda, but by other nations or organizations. I don't have any evidence. But from my perspective, when you have information that is leaked that is clearly helpful to our enemy, you cannot discount that possibility."

Something doesn't smell right about this...your thoughts?

1. Sounds like the truth to me
After all, bin Laden worked for the CIA, and like they say, once you're CIA, you're always CIA:shrug:

7. My question is about...
Hoekstra's comment about "information leaked that is helpful to our enemy." If he's referring to the NSA spying and the banking records spying, that information isn't helpful to our enemy since it was already common knowledge. What isn't common knowledge is Bush's abuse of power and using these spying techniques against american citizens without oversight. I suspect Hoekstra is going to try and defend this abuse of power.

5. Sounds more like he's attacking dissenters.

He's suggesting that leakers, and by extension, the people who publish leaked information, are enemies of the state.

9. don't you wish somebody in congress would oppose him? like maybe some
people from the democratic party Inc USA?

the repubs do this stuff because they can get away with it. they will keep doing it until somebody or something stops them.

all hillary does is send out campaign contributions to people in states 3000 miles away from her.
