Attila the Shrub: Once, leaders actually led their troops into battle.
Right up until the time of Napoleon, many leaders of countries were right there on the battle field.

I'm not saying this should be a prerequisite for war. Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill did a greater service for their countries by staying home. But they didn't pretend to be soldiers.

Junior, on the other hand, loves to talk like a warrior and play dress up: Bring 'em on; Mission accomplished; Dead or Alive; flight suits, military-cut jackets while hanging out with the troops or serving plastic turkey. (There are also his cowboy get ups, but I'll leave that for another time.)

Try, if possible, picturing Mr. AWOL near a real battle field. He'd be the first person to break the four minute mile with a load in his pants while screaming "Mommy."

Why or how wingnuts admire this embarrassing phony is beyond me.

1. I don't really agree
While It is amuzing to think of him running away from combat - which seems like it would surely happent - I do favor civilian control of the military, which commanders in cheif will not lead men on the battle field.

2. Can He Stand Close and Watch Then?
That would suit the task.

3. I doubt it
I doubt he would be allowed to.

And suit what task? Showing that he's a cowardly lion?

6. Reread the 2nd paragraph in the OP. I too believe in civilian control
of the military.
