Even in LTTE and from the occasional pundit, the "fear mongers" of the left are ridiculed for their Chicken Little attitudes. We'd have to be insane to think that one Justice on the Supreme Court would cause that Court to overturn "33 years of settled law." Yep. That's really, really crazy thing to believe. So, we can all take a Chill Pill.

After all, isn't it clear that such an act isn't possible? Isn't that why the last three Supreme Court nominees have been so open and honest at the hearings of the Judiciary Committee? Of course it is. That's why they've all frankly and openly stated that they respect Roe v. Wade as settled law and wouldn't think of reversing it. Yep. Every one of them. No dodging and weaving on that one, right?

2. Of course. I mean, if there were anything to be concerned about, ...
... then those nominees wouldn't have been so open and candid about their opinion of Roe v. Wade as settled law, right?

4. They want the courts to overturn it
Because it would make them too unpopular if the party as a whole tried to overturn it. They can just say "well, we gotta obey the rule of law, aw shucks".

If they DO overturn Roe, the GOP will lose millions of single-issue voters who just won't turn out for elections. That's why I think they really won't overturn it. Roe v. Wade is their Red-Scare Osama Bin Boogeyman that keeps their base in line - and in fear of us baby-killing heathens. They need that, because it's all they really have.
