A hot summer night. A gathering outside a gallery. People coming out to see artwork and activists focused on peace. The show inside titled "The Truth As We Know It: Peace On Earth." Best of show may be the "Alchemists Cauldron," a wall-mounted metal can with holes poked through and a spigot coming out. Inside, pieces of metal clanked together signifying something and through the holes, a murky, blood-red interior with photos of Cheney's head floating around.................... out of the spigot poured a red fluid like blood..............................

Outside the local peace activists have set up with signs and music. An man around 65+ sits on a drum kit and beats on the bass, repetitively, insistently. Suddenly, a huge tribe of twenty-somethings on bicycles takes off all at once like a flight of migrating monarch butterflies. Toward the middle of the hipster flow, a large cart drawn by bikes departs with some musical gear on top................ Mad Max meets the Madness of King George.

A woman appears behind us in the street, already speaking:

"If he says, 'Nukular' one more time -- I'm gonna puke!"

She was short and cute and feisty, somebody's Grandma that you'd see at a church social or bingo parlor, with conventional clothes and coiffed, dyed blonde hair. She didn't know us, just decided to just walk on up and say her piece:

"We're watching the news and he musta said it at least 5 TIMES!! !!! And he's married to a librarian!!

But what really burns my butt is that he has other people saying it, too. Educated people, people who should damn well know better.

I once listened to an interview with a Jennifer-someone from the Carnegie Peace Endowment. Very intelligent, she gave a thoughtful explanation of current geopolitics but used the wrong pronounciation of that word at least seven times. I turned the radio off.

speech he gave while gov of TX and he definitely said "nuclear"

mispronounciation seems like a good way to distract the listener from focussing on the message

investing in companies that manufacture barf bags, or are they made in China, too? He's going to mispronounce it every time, and 5th generation Texans like me will cringe when we hear this phony trying to sound like a good old boy.

I wish we could get together and say "BEGONE", and have him disappear, and realize that the last 5 years have been a fever induced nightmare. We may be weak when the fever breaks and we are lucid again, but at least the past will have been a dream, a nightmare, and we will wake up in a sane, Bushless world. Jimmy Carter -- who studied nuclear physics when he was at the Naval Academy -- also pronounced it that way. The Left hated Carter when he was President and I remember them going ballistic over him saying "nukular" too.
