Bush to Break From Summer Vacation Routine

WASHINGTON (July 6) - President George W. Bush, still down in the polls and grappling with grave matters on the world stage, is breaking his summer vacation routine this election year to travel the country and boost the standing of his presidency and the Republican Party.

***

Since he has been president, Bush has spent the better part of every August largely out of sight at his ranch. It hurt him most last summer, when anti-war activists camped outside his property and drew attention to the mounting deaths in Iraq. Then Hurricane Katrina hit, which forced him to end his vacation several days early.

This year, Bush's travel among the people is designed to show that he is a likable man and to remind Americans why they elected him. The White House is gambling that more exposure to the president in local media, where coverage tends to be softer than in Washington, will offset the harsh realities of a slowdown in the economy and trouble in Iraq.

1. Yea, the crawford coward is afraid of not only horses, Cindy too
He is on the run and we must keep 'em there, never to give up for a moment to allow him to get his footing again. it is hard to take a stand when you can't stop running. now that is the best damn thought I have had yet today.

in front of more people is a STUPID move on KKKRove's part. People are on to his game. Exposure of the psycho helps the Democrats, not the repukes.

5. He may find that by doing this, he's jumped from the frying pan
into the fire. As I recall, he was asked some pretty tough questions in Chicago. Unless they forbid local news outlets to question the shrub, he's likely to get more questions of that nature as people realize how he has shafted the nation. And if he forbids questioning, that in itself will make local news.

6. "to travel the country and boost the standing of his
presidency and the Republican party" Not that he has the intelligence to fix anything, but wouldnt it be nice if the boy-president would concentrate on the problems of real americans rather than trying to boost his standing.

9. A waste of taxpayers' dollars, but then ** is good at doing just that.
Edited on Sat Jul-08-06 09:18 AM by Blue State Native
Running around the Country wasting jet fuel, while millions of Americans are finding it harder and harder to make ends meet. ** doesn't give a shit! I thought his "lump in the bed" just said that they didn't care about polls and didn't trust them? Why the need to run around boosting his poll #s then?
