george w. bush; worst president. Ever.
Edited on Sat Jul-08-06 06:57 AM by LynnTheDem
The Worst President in History?

George W. Bush's presidency appears headed for colossal historical disgrace. Barring a cataclysmic event on the order of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, after which the public might rally around the White House once again, there seems to be little the administration can do to avoid being ranked on the lowest tier of U.S. presidents. And that may be the best-case scenario.

Bush Tops List As U.S. Voters Name Worst President

President George W. Bush has been named the worst president in the last 61 years by American voters -- with nearly twice the negative rating of Richard Nixon -- in a new poll by Quinnipiac University

Nothing new...historians knew bush was an unparalled disaster 2 years ago;

A whole lot of us Texans knew long before then...didn't we, governor george w. "there is no pollution in Texas" bush.

2. The article explains that 19%; some rated "success" being his
"success" at getting what he wants...even as the American people get fucked by his wants.

9. It all depends on who writes the history.
We are living through a Neocon/Fascist takeover of our Republic and the destruction of our Constitution and our traditional rights. If the Neocons continue stealing elections and installing regimes like Bush's, they will control how the history gets written. Historians who oppose will just be discredited, or more likely tossed into a Gitmo or some other future internment camp/gulag.

12. Richard Nixon looks good to me now
I would gladly trade him for Bush.
Nixon was far more intelligent and did not have the total control of government that the resident has now.

14. History will most likely enshrine: (1) W; (2) Gipper; (3) RMN; (4) Bush I,
the last four 'Puke presidents. The corruption and/or ruinous fiscal policies of W's three 'Puke predecessors is topped by W who has also added the most egregious abuse of power to this disturbing list making him the hands-down winner of top honors for all time including what future this once-Republic might have under extreme RW control.

20. You can add "most hated president" to his legacy.
Not only do most Americans who disapprove of Bush disapprove strongly but he is also hated around the world by friend and foe alike. Could there have been another president who made himself and our country this unpopular in the world? And, um, how is this making us safer again?

Hey - I thought Karen Hughes was made good-will ambassador to improve our image abroad. What ever happened to that? I haven't heard her mentioned in the media in months and months.

22. He's a compete and utter fraud.
He's never accomplished a fucking thing on his own. Not a single fucking thing.

Mommy and daddy and their pals, and Karl Rove have done everything for him.

The fact that enough stupid Americans voted for him, in not one but two national elections, to allow his cabal to put him in the WH, is something that convinces me that this country is not "great" but deeply flawed.

25. some of the "success" answers are actually on our side
we've seen this before, some historians have a sarcastic sense of humor.

i'd bet that at least a quarter of the "success" answers are actually along the lines of "if running down america was his goal, you'd have to consider him a success." or "most successful president since clinton".

29. even jeb was "better"
but i guess they needed him in place to rig florida more than they needed shrub in place to rig texas....

besides, they could have found any yahoo named bush throughout the country. or better yet, any yahoo named reagan. besides, it's not like "bush" was such a fabulous name. remember, it was conservatives who threw in the towel on bush 41.

26. Something intrigues me
Four years ago (right after 9/11 and for a good portion of 2002) Americans polled Bush as the best president we've ever had.

I wonder if the effect of recency amplifies the nation's feelings towards the president (positive or negative).

I guess a better measure might be one's best rating subtracted by one's worst rating (so as to minimize the effect of name recognition and polarization).

31. After 911, a toad would have had a high approval rating.
Americans, most for the first time, saw how most the rest of the world has lived for decades; ie not invincible...and it scared the crap out of America.

Had a toad been president then, the toad would have had high approval.

bush had LOW approval UNTIL 911.
