So, is this the way it’s going to be? I predict that beginning last Friday and running up until the November elections, the news agencies will celebrate the thwarting of yet another terrorist plot, or disruption of another terrorist cell each and every Friday. Last week it was hapless, hopeless young fools in Miami who were without a leader (or a plan) until our government supplied one. This week, the reports are of a bone-headed plot to flood lower Manhattan by blowing up a tunnel or two. If all terrorists are this stupid, why is the war costing so damn much? True, bomb throwing does not take genius to accomplish and any person bent on terror can create it on the cheap with or without a grand scheme attached. You don’t even have to be committed to a cause; you just have to want to be “famous” in a world where notoriety is just as good as fame.
For me, the scariest part is that these Friday scores in the war on terra are covering up what is really going on. The news seems to be manipulated so we can count our blessings over the weekend and not worry about what the government is doing in our name; so we don’t dwell on the negative aspects like torture, election fraud, and the abandonment of the hunt for OBL. We are being soothed like babes in a cradle for a reason. Why?
