Troops Home Fast -- This 4th of July Weekend! Will you be there too?
* Join CODEPINK's "Troops Home Fast" campaign.

This 4th of July people across the country will be standing up to declare a solemn and critical demand:

"Bring the Troops Home Now."

We encourage you to join your neighbors in standing up for peace.

On July 4, we will launch an historic hunger strike called TROOPS HOME FAST
in Washington, D.C. in front of the White House.
While many Americans will be expressing their patriotism via barbeques and fireworks,
we'll be fasting in memory of the dead and wounded,
and calling for the troops to come home from Iraq.

We're inviting people around the world to show their support for this open-ended fast
by fasting for at least one day. Please sign up to join us in DC or to support us in
your hometown and encourage your friends to do the same!

* Start or join a peace vigil in your community.

* Join CODEPINK's "Troops Home Fast" campaign.

Make the demands of the Declaration, prepare to take nonviolent action if, by September 21 (International Peace Day) Congress fails to bring the troops home now by establishing a plan to end the war.

Troops Home Fast
Washington, DC, July, 4 Beginning July 4, continuing through August
You can fast with us in Washington, DC in front of the White House, or in your own community. You can fast as an individual, or organize a rolling fast (each one taking one day) in a public place such as a congressional office, a recruiting station, a federal building or a church. And if you live outside the United States, we encourage you to fast on July 4th outside a U.S. Embassy or consulate. While the U.S. officials are enjoying their barbeques and festivities, we will be reminding them of the ongoing suffering of Iraqis and soldiers in this unjust war.

2. i'll support them when it gets to the 3rd week or so...
but if it's just something that some poseurs are doing for a couple/few days over a weekend- then i think it's insulting to try and compare them to Gandhi.

5. poseurs?
There are many people committed to stopping the war in Iraq and bringing the troops home now.
They have been at this, some full-time and others part-time, since the invasion!
Wasn't Gandhi for peace? I think this is a compliment to his ideals!
The fasting is continuing through August. Please read the post above.

"We're inviting people around the world to show their support for this open-ended fast

one day of fasting is NOT a "hunger strike", and calling it such is an insult not just to the people who have been committed enough to their particular causes to have performed REAL and LEGITIMATE hunger strikes, but also to the many millions of people in the world who actually DO go hungry.

like i said- when the "hunger strikers" get to their third straight/solid week of actual fasting, i'll be ready to believe/support them.

i mean- how much can they really support their cause if they aren't really willing to do an HONEST "hunger strike"...?

like i said: P-O-S-E-U-R-S.
