Ailes 'Fuming' at Fox News Channel
Newsmax.com ^

Posted on 06/27/2006 9:27:22 AM PDT by doesn't suffer fools gladly

Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes is reportedly "on the warpath” about his network’s recent ratings slide – and has given notice to staffers that he’s willing to clean house, according to a report in Broadcasting & Cable. The cable news channel’s overall prime-time ratings are off 8 percent in the second quarter of this year, and down 22 percent in viewers ages 25 to 54. The first quarter was also disappointing...

***************************

"There has been a partial liberal bias creeping into FoxNews. Hence the ratings slide!"
"Hey Roger, stop moving to the left.."
"Moved too far to left."
"Get back to the conservative coverage that made you #1 in the first place!"

and Hardball, because it gets Olbermann viewers.

Limbaugh's ratings are down. Franken's ratings are down. News program ratings are down. They're all down.

8. Go ahead, Roger. Make Faux MORE conservative.
What's that old saying? "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time. But you can't fool all of the people all of the time." Those people Ailes has been fooling are starting to wake up.

10. On TDS the other night there was a clip of the fox morning chat show
guy yammering on about the NYT coverage of bankspygate. The Fox guy said in regards to the NYT, and I quote, that it was "agenda reporting".

What an insane comment to come out of the mouth of anyone at fox.

11. FAUX's ratings dive couldn't possibly be because it's out of touch
...with mainstream America, who resoundingly disapprove of this administration and so aren't buying FAUX's RW propaganda anymore.

13. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa. I just cannot help asking
doctors, the police, restaurant owners WHY are they watching a new channel jointly controlled by the Saudis for American news. You know, the Saudi Prince we can't catch, the Saudi nationals that bombed the Towers on 9/11.

I usually get the channel changed. So, I'll take some credit.

it's primarily an entertainment channel, not a news channel. that's why direct comparison to other actual news channels isn't really valid. (granted, the rest are steadily becoming less like "actual news channels" themselves). not many people watch the news, or ever did. even being "sorta" like news probably leaves fox with only a limited potential audience. any idiot with any actual "news channel" pretentions at fox (other than the hamming it up in front of the camera sort) should probably be fired. it's just not consistent with their business model.

they're like a 24 hour Daily Show for wingnuts, except they do angry rather than funny. they know it, we know it. a small, but not insignificant portion of their audience knows it too. their on air personalities, however, mostly don't. or they're really good actors. i'm betting on the first option.

christ knows, there are plenty of insane wingnut couch hogs looking for a permanent angry fix. they've got a good niche, and i'm sure they don't want to fuck with it too much.
