Gore speech is the most important political speech
in the United States in decades. Foreget that MSM chooses to ignore it. By so doing they have made it clear that democracy is not what is important to them.

1. In other words, they're not "mainstream"...
...so please stop calling them "the MSM." They're the Corporate Media.

America spewing out global warming gasses like it's our top growth priority, falling way behind other countries on the buildout of the internet, it seems obvious what we need in oh-eight.

16. They can't because the newspapers will all have it tomorrow
and so will the foreign TV stations tonight. They are royally fugged this time. In my part of the world, any speech by the opposition is given serious coverage. They cannot get away with ignoring anything this serious.

15. I was at the speech today...people left there very energized
Let's hope it doesn't dissipate and that the Dems will harness that energy to fight what Bush is doing.

19. Barr was supposed to introduce Gore via satellite
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 05:04 PM by deutsey
As the woman who gave the opening remarks was speaking, someone came out and gave her a note and then whispered in Gore's ear. When the woman finished, she said Barr was going to introduce Gore (which sent something of a chuckle throughout the audience, but then turned into polite applause) and then sat down beside Gore. Everyone sat looking at the screen waiting for Barr to appear...the woman said (I was near the front, so I could hear her) that it would be a minute before Barr was linked, but it never happened.

Everyone began murmuring and, after the woman went backstage, someone called out something about Gore either being president or running for president (I couldn't tell which). Gore smiled appreciatively and then someone else yelled: "Oh eight!" to which Gore wagged his finger and shook his head no.

Still no Barr. Just as Gore was comically looking around to see if someone was going to introduce him, the woman came out and got the director of one of the sponsoring organizations to come up from the audience and introduce Gore.
