For those political operatives in the NE who took potshots at victims
of the Great Flood of 1993, hurricaines of any name, mudslides, forest fires, and any other natural disaster by blaming them for living where they could be hit by a natural disaster, I say "Karma bites hard." As much as I feel badly for those affected by these floods, I well remember how they picked us apart in the Midwest during a 500 year flood in '93. More recently, Katrina's survivors were maligned. I'm sure designation as a disaster area will come quickly and aid in a timely manner for the NE since there are more pols per square mile than citizens there.

No offense to the citizenry there. I feel for you deeply and sincerely. These politicians and there operatives just piss me off so much.

1. I'll remember this as I pump out my basement, and
watch the people downhill from me lose even more than I have so far.

Oh, and it's raining again today.

2.  "NE" is New England, I take it.
I don`t know who "they" are, but what I do know is that the New Englanders I`m familiar with have never, ever "maligned" victims of a natural disaster. In fact, Vermont, was one of the first states (if not the first) to rally with contributions for Hurricane Katrina victims. I think we sent around 400 big rigs filled with donations. Local truckers donated their vehicles and their time. Folks from the poorest counties helped as well.

Right now, every county in Vermont has been declared an agricultural emergency. The rain has been devastating to many of the small farmers who are hanging on by a thread.

Regardless of who said what in 1993, I can only feel deep empathy for anyone suffering today.

7. As a matter of fact, a lot of the people in my community
Edited on Wed Jun-28-06 12:34 PM by Totally Committed
took in people and animals after Katrina hit, and a several from my own neighborhood took water, cleaning supplies, food and diapers that we got together and drove it down to NO themselves.

Anyone who knows me knows me or reads what I post, knows that Katrina hit me so hard, it actually changed my political outlook.

4. "POLITICAL OPERATIVES"

...some people pretend they NEVER existed, and that is particularly foolish after the 9/11 attacks.

claim? I LIVE in New England, and I NEVER heard of any such crap.

I call bullshit, and suspect a bizarre personal vendetta of some kind.

Tell you what, you think New Englanders are assholes? Then don't come here. Put all the New England DUers on ignore. You'll be much happier.

EDIT: And, but the way, I guess I was hallucinating when I saw the trucks and airplanes leaving New England with relief supplies for the Midwest back then.
