If there was breaking news at this moment, how would we know
about it? What source? The media whores are bent on repeats, as is most everyone else.
What's 'live' now on TV? (And no, not CNN Live, Glen Beck is haunting that channel).

5. Yes, BUT! I'm wondering about what's going on in Israel tonight.
I started an LBN thread way earlier from news I heard on CNN. So who's watching/listening/reporting now?

15. Search "Israel blog" and take it from there.
The news is a participatory event. ;)

9. Serious question--even if we on the 'net spread what we know . . .
Edited on Wed Jun-28-06 12:02 AM by snot
we don't have a network of on-the-ground, full-time reporters -- in fact, virtually no one does anymore, except perhaps the BBC.

not hearing.

11. It is freaky isn't it? Can trust the motherfuckers to do their jobs, all
they have time for are lies and covering flag burning etc.

12. On the contrary, there are more on the ground reporters than ever.
There are blogs all over the planet giving first hand accounts. Just have to look for them.

14. Satellite TV with a Euro package?

works fine. Also helps with getting different views.

Shortwave radio works good too.

18. I don't have it where I am,
but when traveling abroad I looooove the EuroSport channel. Lots of cool stuff that doesn't get touched on any of our sports channels.

24. That's one solution.
At least you'd get unbiased news i.e. something closer to the truth. Another alternative is to keep an eye on the websites of our news channels.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/
http://www.channel4.com/news/
http://www.sky.com/skynews/worldnews
http://www.euronews.net/
etc.

I stayed up to watch Sir, No Sir! until about 1am which allowing for our summertime was midnight GMT - we're 5 hours ahead of EST. At that time CNN were looping a video <always reminds me a Marx Bros. film when they that> while they apparently had a reporter on the line from Israel but BBC had the footage live.

I use DU to find out what's occuring over your side. :)

20. Thanks, and that's my point. No one in real time knows anything,
or so it seems, nor does the internet. Despite 'prevailing wisdom'. Someone on the ground needs to report it first. Or a blogger...
Is the young soldier dead? Are the Palestinians and Israelis negotiating?
What's going on?

This is why we need some 'balanced news and informed journalists'.
