2. Pryor actually took a stand!
And he's up for re-election. Could it be that he's figured we Arkansans have figured out it was BS and that the Senate should do something for the veterans who defend the flag?

5. Yes, but she doesn't want to change the Consitution.
I don't want a flag burning Consitutional amendment or a flag burning statute, but Senator Clinton supports the latter and not the former.

12. I was surprised by Bennett too? And McConnel?
and to think, Bennett was one of a handful who voted against the anti-lynching legislation not long ago.

I don't get it. I sent him a thank you. Maybe he'll let us know.

14. And Mitch McConnell?
What is this, a tiny handful of conservatives who will not bend their "small government, less restrictions" policy, no matter what? I thought that type had died off years ago.

15. Dunno, maybe a senior moment? It's going to cost him
in Utah.

McConnell was a bit of a surprise.

I expected Lieberman to vote against it. He's been pretty good on civil liberties issues.

18. To make sure it didn't pass
Because it was nothing but a piece of political propaganda and they had no intention of amending the constitution in a way that would cause a chain reaction to limit free speech and expression. Maybe more Democrats should have voted for it to call their bluff.

26. Ordinarily, I'd say the "aye" Democrats need to be targeted
for dismissal if only for being too fucking stupid to see what this amendment is really all about: getting the GOP vote out in November to try to defeat the ones who are running. It's just too bad that most primaries are over by now, so we're stuck with the damned fools for another 6 years.

Even my own DINO Senator saw through this dog.

25. That's just an ignorant statement
Look, for various reasons; his sanctimony, his sickening stand on the Iraq occupation and the WOT, i have no use for Lieberman, but please, go check his voting record. In most respects, Lieberman is a liberal- at least he's a social liberal. And, I believe, he has a decent environmental record. It's not the least bit surprising, for an informed person, to predict how he would have voted on this.

He's 'repig lite' and he's in trouble. :)

I don't like a lot of his recent votes.

You don't like that? Tough!

The anguish was clear as even those supporting Lieberman are upset
over his positions on the war in Iraq, trade, and school vouchers.

A spokesman for Lieberman's campaign said the endorsement affirms his
progressive Democrat credentials but it came after an hour of anguishing
remarks, even from those who support him.

"I hope that after this is over we can get Joe Lieberman, all of us,
even the ones that get along greatly with Joe, and beat the s--t out of him,"
says Ken Delacruz, Metal Trades Union.

Lamont supporters were angry.

"He supports the worst boss this country has ever had; George Bush,"
says Paul Filson, Service Employees Union. <--snip

20. There they are, McConnell and Chaffee
I was wondering who the Repubs tweezed off so the amendment wouldn't pass. Chaffee just might have been voting from conviction, but McConnell was doing them a favor.
