Flag burning epidemic

In the Senate, Covering Themselves in Old Glory

By Dana Milbank
Tuesday, June 27, 2006; Page A02

The Citizens Flag Alliance, a group pushing for the Senate this week to pass a flag-burning amendment to the Constitution, just reported an alarming, 33 percent increase in the number of flag-desecration incidents this year.

The number has increased to four, from three.

The naive among us may have trouble appreciating how four flag-burning episodes would constitute a constitutional crisis. But the men and women of the Senate, ever alert to emerging threats, are on the case.

EDIT: cut bad paste

1. Four? Shocking!
My initial reaction to this story: A) Just your average shiny key jingling to avert our eyes from something truly important; or B) The bastards have something in mind that will make a bunch of people WANT to burn their flags.

2. Thats what i've been saying
Also notice how they say flag "desecration", (connotation of a religous term) interesting...

3. There's a claim of 4 desecration events
but no citation or description, not even locatin or circumstance.

Until that appears, I'm going to believe the number came out of some official's ass or was applied to flags that were allowed to touch the ground or other "desecration."

None of these clowns has ever come up with a single instance of a flag being burned in protest in this country in YEARS.

Protestors know better. It's counterproductive.

5. I saw a televised flag burning last night...
Neo-Nazi skinheads burned the AMERICAN flag after their offices were searched pursuant to a SEARCH WARRANT.
The Fuck-head skinhead leader "lit" the flag and then he spit on it.

Despicable act, but if he bought it, if it was his flag, he has the right to do what he wants to or with it. I find it obscene Bush wraps himself in the flag. Why isn't that illegal?
