DU Doctors, would you lose your license for false Rx?
1) If a Dr prescribed Viagra under his own name and provided the Rx to a patient to use, would the Dr lose his/her license?

2) If narcotics were one of the drugs prescribed, same circumstances, would the Doctor go to prison and lose the license?

It would seem reasonable to have the license to practice revoked. And messing with narcotics Elvis-style is a crime now, isn't it?

1. Isn't it at the very least, unethical to give a patient an Rx in ...
your (the treating Physician's) NAME?

IMO, this is wrong on so many levels and privacy is NOT a sound defense to BREAK the law.

2. A quick answer
1) Probably not lose their license. This maybe (or maybe not) a state ethics board violation. If it is, it will probably result in sanctions, but doubtful that it would cause a loss of license assuming that the drug was medically indicated.

2) Wouldn't affect licensure, other than the same as #1 above. It would most likely effect DEA privlidges (ability to prescribe scheduled drugs). Prison would probably depend on whether there was an attempt to divert/hide, and would probably be very, very difficult to prove.

3. I'm also curious if Rush has medical conditions
for which Viagra would be contraindicated.

suspension, depending on the physician's track record... These things are state by state, not sure what FLA's rules on this are.

If one had a record of doing things like this or had other infractions on record, it very well could result in loss of license.

On Edit, it's amazing to think that dude couldn't even bring himself to pick up, or have a flunky, pick up Viagra in his own damn name. Pharmacies are supposed to respect your privacy anyway. I wonder if he paid his doctor well to take this risk. The potential for significant sanctions against the doctor are there.
