How About Feingold-Gore ?
There's no way to get inside the mind of Mr. Al, to know what he's thinking, or if he sincerely has no desire to ever campaign for public office again.

But how likely or improbable would a Feingold-Gore ticket be? It would take the pressure off of Al, and would enable him to make the environment and global warming, both a campaign issue and the centerpiece of his Vice Presidency, if they should win.

I think that a Gore-Feingold ticket would be a winner, but so would the flipside of that. What this country needs right now, are intelligent, honest and rational leaders, and both Al & Russ fit that bill. Sure, they may not be colorful and lively, but we've got bigger problems than to elect someone just because they have a swagger, and are able to talk like a Texan.

1. Why would Al Gore want to be VP again? He spent 8 years there already.
Sounds pretty silly to me.

3. Gore/Feingold makes more sense to me
Gore has more experience. Feingold could prove himself in the executive branch and gain vast experience as VP. After all, Gore had expanded duties as VP traveling more on foreign affairs than any previous VP. I think he would have his own VP do the same, paving the way for a Feingold presidency after 8 years of President Gore.

4. I don't think Feingold should have gotten that second divorce.

Like or not, that factually hurts his electability something fierce. He's a great guy, but that's simply not a good political move.

9. Right. He should live in misery instead
It's not like he divorced a woman dying of cancer to marry someone younger. I don't think many people even heard about it, let alone care.

11. I'm just saying, from a "I want to be President" point of view, bad move.
Statistically, it's about the worst thing you can do.

10. Divorce Or Marriage Of Convenience?
Yeah, in our society, it's better to maintain a "fake" public marriage, a la Bill & Hillary, than to actually call it quits.

Anybody who thinks that Bill & Hill are together for reasons other than politics, are not thinking too clearly. He needed her 10 years ago, and now she needs him. Quid pro quo.

Perhaps Russ is not the type who can fake it. I'm sure the wholesome "family values" crowd will attack him, unjustifiably so.

5. I Understand
Just dreaming I guess. Trying to figure out if there's a way for Gore to run, but not really "run" for office again. This way he would avoid the primaries, and could be "drafted" by Russ.

It's not realistic, but he would certainly add experience to the ticket. Who better to be Vice President, than a former Vice President? It would be difficult for the repubs to attack him based on his record, and it would be tougher in '08, to use the Clinton legacy against him as well.

7. VP term limits?
Talk about scary thoughts. Thinking Al could be VP again, already knows the ropes, isn't a bad thing. But flip side thinking is, what if Cheney or someone as corrupt as him could take up residence for decades. Any limits on VP terms?

16. Why do people always say focus on 2006, when the 08' conversation begins?
Obviously, we need to focus on 06', can't we do BOTH? Can't we do 2 things at once? Can't we have discussions based on our interests at the time and not have others dictate our conversations? I see this all of the time and I just want to say, if somebody wants to talk about 08', let them for chrissakes, and stop with trying to control everybody else's conversations!
