Fox News looks tired and dated to me now
Edited on Mon Jun-26-06 11:44 AM by darkstar
Because of changing circumstances in my life, I haven't watched much cable news for about 8-9 months, and really none at all for the last 4.

FOX's success used to piss me off b/c it felt like an edgy, young-demo juggenaut. But now it just looks so dated and tired--both in terms of form and content--compared to CNN and MSNBC, i.e, O'Reilly's format and graphics haven't changed, nor have Hannity's arguments. And their idea of short skirted, fashionably-coiffed news readers feels about as sexy a dance number on Lawrence Welk.

In short, it has lost all claim to the edge, and feels more ridiculous--maybe even desperate--than threatening now.

Anyone else feel the same?

2. It always felt cheap and desperate to me.
I've only ever seen it by accident -- like when I was stuck in bar with it on, or something. Haven't seen it in a while, though.

Nothing that sports O'Reilly's nasty mug can be called "sexy."

3. It had it's moment of Zeitgiest
But in an America where Conservatitism looks anything but Triumphant, they are having a hard time peddling their wares.

4. Well said, b69
And is their a more "condescending, heavy-lidded New England elitist" than Britt fricking Hume on TV? (Note: Not really sure where he's from....)

5. Ever paid much notice to Carol Lin on CNN?

It beats me how anyone can be that overtly "cutesy-poo" while reading the news.

8. They need more flags and patriotic newsreaders with strange hair
and big heads. Also, they should rebrand as the official news distorter for the RNC. Truth in advertising is always a good thing.

9. They are so transparent to me now
Back before I joined DU, I knew Fox was slanted, now they are just plain obvious and transparent. My brother hates them so much, he canceled them from his cable package.

10. Their graphics are scary
...BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM...The WAR ON TERRORISM (in like huge red letters)...and then theres like an american flag in the background...and some soliders shooting at something...and then it fades out into like a bomb...I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. This is just from the one time I watched Fox News in like 2001....

13. Just like OxyMoron Boy
doesn't have 22 million listeners anymore. People tire of that propaganda shit. Nobody watches because why bother, you already know what they are going to say.

15. After watching the Colbert Report, it feels like Fox is now a parody of
itself. Well, it always felt like that, but now, even more so.

16. I don't know about that
but I do know that the morning show Fox and Friends has to be a bad SNL skit. I was convinced my TV was on the Comedy Chanel when I saw that little peice of propaganda.

And yes, Hannity's 3RD grade level "When did you stop beating your wife?" debate skills were old the first day he brought them out.

All the Faux has left are the die-hards. They're those same 31% that don't think he's as fucked up as a soup sandwich.
