Anyone watching the Menendez/Kean Debate on C-Span?
If you are what do you think. Menendez has a great pretty much liberal Dem voting record but he's running against another "Father/Son" Dynasty...and Tom Kean (his father's "very young son") is pretty much a Ken Mehlman Repug Talking Points Clone.

Menendez seems to be a little weak. But, that's my impression. It seemed Menendez wasn't expecting the questions he was gettin from Bush Bot Media...and yet NJ is supposedly a Blue State...so would Menendez have been thinking he would get "soft ball questions" when we out here on the "Internets" know the Media is Controlled?

 anyway...if anyone is watching I hope they have seen better than I have........

2. Not watching
But that is a seat the Democrats have to hold onto. With the latest poll out of Missouri with Talent behind Democratic challenger, Claire McCaskill, we have a great shot at picking up seats. It would suck to pick up that seat (and maybe Montana, Pennslyvania, and Rhode Island) and then lose a seat in a blue state.

9. I don't know....maybe Menendez thinks he can beat the "Sports Dynasty"
which follows the Bushies where the "Favorite Son" goes on to victory.
 I'm really surprised at Menendez performance since he has a very liberal voting record. He doesn't seem to be able to defend Democratic principles against what seems to be a Repug Clone with armed talking points with Kean.

3. I watched some of it, but
I couldn't get past Kean's halting speech patterns. It was really annoying. I thought Menendez was a much better speaker.

11. Well...another DU thread seems to say Menedez "cleaned Kean's Clock"
so I guess what I saw is out of the "mainstream."

4. We're watching...
...just tuned in a few minutes ago.

I think Menendez is doing a good job but should be pressing the fact that "any" republican elected to the senate will be bad for the country. No matter how "flexible" Kean appears - he will be in the republican "head-lock" if he is elected.

7. Yes...my complaint was that he didn't ATTACK Hard and didn't seem to
think he would need to and so wasn't fully prepared.

12. Menendez is smooth and very smart. He's an excellent orator and
debater. He rarely resorts to thug tactics. He's smarter than that. He very clearly out classed Kean. I don't think anybody but you will be declaring Kean the winner.

5. I AM WATCHING IT...
Tom Kean doesn't sound like a Democrat. He also sounds, forgive me, very stupid... Dan Quayle and George Bush type stupid. Really, he should be operating an elevator.

8. Mike...Kean's father (is this another Repug with "Trophy Wife") is a Repug
Edited on Sun Jun-25-06 07:06 PM by KoKo01
and I assumed his son is a Repug and that's why he'd debating Menendez.

Are you saying Kean is running against Menendez as a Dem? I used to live in NJ way back...so maybe the "Son" changed parties and is running as a Dem. I haven't lived there in awhile...
