The other day, I had to go to the emergency room.

Not wanting to sit there for 4 hours, I went to the Army-Navy store, and bought some OD (Olive Drab) pants and a shirt.
Then I sewed a couple of patches on which I grabbed from the internet..

It was amazing how many people left as I walked in.
I guess they suddenly decided they weren't that sick after all..

Here is the patch that you can sew on your clothing if you are in need of quicker emergency service.


It didn't up on the screen but it is a Border Patrol patch!

This is clearly racism to me. I like a quote I read in an interview with Sarah Silverman, a comedienne a lot of whose act is sort of inflammatory and anti politically correct. She said that if she would go in front of a group of, say (in this case) illegal immigrants (or whatever group is the butt of the joke in question), and would tell the joke without hesitation then it is not racist. If, however, it is the sort of joke you could only tell your good ole boy white buddy's from Lynchin, KS then it is most likely racist and inappropriate. I'll refrain from any sort of analysis of that statement other than that i tend to agree with it.

He's so deathly ill that he has to go to the Emergency Room, yet he has time to wander around shopping at the Army Navy store?

Unless maybe he doesn't have health insurance, and had to go to the ER for something that wasn't really an emergency? If that's the case, wonder how he feels about universal health care?

So, on to the Army Navy. He buys some pants and a shirt. Then he does, what? Orders some patches from the internet? The net is pretty fast, but I'm pretty sure that you can't get anything delivered in mere moments.

Then, he whips out a needle and thread, which he just happened to have on hand, and sews on these patches? All the while he's so deathly ill that he needed to be in the Emergency Room?

You know, this is quite a guy. Wonder why he hasn't signed up for the war in Iraq? :shrug:

So there was no need for him to go to the ER even if he didn't have health insurance because he obviously had cash if it was a non emergency situation.
If I were ill or injured enough to go to the ER, I certainly wouldn't want to try and go buy stuff at a store. Even if it was a long time, sitting in an area where you are close to emergency treatment if you should suddenly become critical is a much better idea than wandering around in a store where someone may or may not be able to help you if you suddenly collapsed.

That is completely racist and cruel. Not funny. I work in a state teaching hospital as a nurse, and I find it especially offensive.
