Tikrit: US soldier was killed - roadside bomb

Baghdad: 3 people killed & 7 wounded by roadside bomb

in shopping area

Baghdad: bomb inside minibus - 2 killed 5 wounded

Baghdad: 1 killed 3 wounded suicide bomb at police commando checksite

Baghdad: US killed 1 insurgent & detained 5

Ramdi: US detained 11 and discovered 2 weapon's caches

Yusufiya: US killed 2 insurgents

Mosul: gument killed civilian

(Kind of quiet day over there)

3. Unfortunately. It's all paid for in blood.
I have a Repug "friend" who just writes this all off - its just Baghdad and really doesn't mean anything. Compared to the days under Sadaam this is nothing.

4. al jazeera says the 8 were killed in the market bombing.
I never know how much credence to give to al jazeera but they seem to do better than our papers do.

They also say that another 17 people have been kidnapped in the town north of Baghdad - same place that 80 were kidnapped last week. I noticed that the kidnapping was barely even mentioned on our news. CBS gave it one line in the evening news. Even Lehrer just mentioned it - one line at most.
