Riverbend blog hasn't been updated in 2 weeks

In light of the increased violence and state of emergency, I really hope she's okay.

1. She has gone for several weeks without updating in the past during

periods almost, if not equally, as turbulent, and has returned.

Still, concern for Iraqis is warranted these days, so snaps for the note.

But I'm still thinking about her tonight. Hoping and praying for her safety.

2. So do I!

As the mother of three grown children...the youngest 39, I do worry about her. I guess it's the maternal instinct, but I have been reading her blog for so long, and she seems to have grown more and more worn down by events. I pray for her, and her family. I hope that she will post again soon, and let those who read her know that she is safe. Anybody on DU who notices an update, I hope they will post and let the rest of us know.

4. She's only been posting once a month or so for a year now

It may be that between the electricity situation and the very real danger to her life and the lives of her family if she's discovered, she's being ultra careful and staying offline as much as possible nowadays. I don't know where she gets the courage to update at all anymore unless she's using a proxy server. She is one brave woman. I'm looking forward to her next book, Baghdad Burning II, coming out in October through the Feminist Press.

Thanks for the heads up on her book. I'll be sure to look for it.

I'm surprised, looking back through her archives. It felt less often than that. I really anticipate her updates. :)

She may not have enough electricity to post.
