An animal caught by its leg in a trap finally gnaws it off to get free...
Is that what we have to do to save ourselves?

15. But the courage...
And the will...

Kudos to the "poor little animal." I doubt I could do it myself.

But then there's the guy who sawed off his arm after a boulder fell on it while he was hiking.

3. What's the proverbial "leg" to be chewed off?
I need help with your analogy.

6. I would venture that the "leg" is the party leadership who
do everything in their power to undermine the nation and the party. Lose them. It will be bloody, but lose them. They are doing too much damage now.

8. I'd love to throw out Hilary, Pelosi, Reid, etc
Have Conyers majority leader House, Feingold in Senate.

7. Maybe its the illusion that we can fix this country via elections
and gradual reforms and trying to work within the system. Maybe if we don't do something a lot more drastic than that very soon we won't survive as the country that we still identify with.

4. That's basically what "cut and run" -- KKKarl's latest canard --
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 09:16 PM by ocelot
really means. A ship's anchor gets fouled on the sea floor and the ship can't get away from danger (storm, pirates, etc.) unless they cut the anchor line and run (meaning sail with the wind - the fastest way to escape). The alternative is stay and sink. So metaphorically it's a lot like an animal chewing off its foot to get free from a trap.

13. Well in the case of Iraq we should just get the hell out
There is nothing for us to win there, no face to save, just loss upon loss.
