Hinchey renews effort to expand CIA leak probe-Investigate the Lie!!!
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 04:27 PM by dogday
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. Now that presidential aide Karl Rove has been cleared, an upstate congressman is calling on a special prosecutor to expand his investigation into the leaking of the identity of a C-I-A operative.

Maurice Hinchey -- an Ulster County Democrat -- has launched a new congressional effort to urge special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald to look into whether President Bush and top administration officials lied to lawmakers about pre-war intelligence.

Hinchey and 19 of his colleagues in the House are asking Fitzgerald to find out whether any crimes were committed in early 2003 when they believe Bush knowingly misled Congress into believing Iraq had sought uranium from Africa for a nuclear weapon.

Hinchey said he believes Fitzgerald has the authority to investigate all aspects surrounding the C-I-A leak, which should include the motive behind the leak.

10. Hi!
I say that because Fitzgerald implied in his October news conference how no one should look to the investigation for any answers about the war.

"This indictment is not about the war, this indictment is not about the propriety of the war, and people who believe fervently in the war effort, people who oppose it, people who have mixed feelings about it should not look to this indictment for any resolution of how they feel or any vindication of how they feel. This is simply an indictment that says, in a national security investigation about the compromise of a CIA officer's identity. That may have taken place in the context of a very heated debate over the war, whether a person, Mr. Libby, lied or not. The indictment will not seek to prove that the war was justified or unjustified. This is striped of that debate and this is focused on a narrow transaction. And I think anyone who's concerned about the war and has feelings for or against shouldn't look to this criminal process for any answers or resolutions of that. They will be frustrated and, frankly, it wouldn't be good for the process and the fairness of a trial."

11. It is the motive of the attack on Plame
It was the very motive of trying to cover up the lies about this war that lead to the President and staff doing this... President openly admits to declassifying this document to make his claim... It would seem worthy to ask the question why? But I guess he just wants to know who and when on this investigation and I appreciate that as well....

Who knows where this investigation could take us eventually ya know????? :hi:

13. He May Decline
But a call for answers is a good thing and sets the stage if the dems take over the house in the fall.

14. For Rove to have gotten out of the noose.. he may have rolled a higher up.
My bet would be old bushie boy's gonna get it. If they decide it was all the deciders fault and THEY were misled... then they could clean up their election issues ahead of time by burning their own straw man. After all he doesn't need to be reelected.

These people will use each other up and the most vile of them will eat the others.

Then again there are the emails to Cheney that were disappeared and reappeared. He may be closer, but a harder one to pin down.

8. Thank you for the information
I thought this important enough to kick for more to read... The motive behind the CIA outing is worthy of an investigation in itself... The whole thing stinks to high heaven...:hi:
