So is God punishing Oklahoma for electing Tom Coburn to
the Senate....

Maybe God is bringing a little fire and brimstone to the Sooner state because bigots and charlatans and ner do wells are claiming to be doing "his" work....

Doesn't that sound perposterious....

Well, no self respecting liberal or progressive would dare make that type of claim....

Why do we let the right say these type of things, never does our "side" call it like it is...

What would be wrong with saying....

Blaming Sharon's stroke on his decision to give a small slice of land to the Palestinians is just as preposterous my claim that the fires scorching OK are because the people elected Coburn...

1. they also believe that Rabin was assassinated because of
God's punishment. I think you got it exactly right. Why not turn the tables on them and put it in that light?

2. Um, I'm sure the wildfires aren't "selecting" RWer homes.
Everyone is suffering and/or scared right now. :-(

3. Trying to make a point as to how ridiculous it
is to call acts of nature or of man that get out of hand as the work of god...

Believe me, my heart goes out to all those folks caught in the path of the wildfires...

6. Oh good! Believe me, there have been plenty of people
who have been downright nasty, wishing Oklahoma would burn to the ground and making fun of us, saying we're so stupid we don't know how to put out fires.

And yes, it is ridiculous!

8. It has to do more with the spread of people into places
that are still untamed...

More hurricanes, tornadoes, devastating fires are occurring simply because people have moved into places where these natural disasters are more apt to occur...

More of a function of population growth and mobility...

4. I believe it's because Republicans are too stupid to be trusted with fire.

5. As much as I relish the thought of God...
... punishing right-wingers, I don't believe in that kind of God.

Right-wingers believe in a mean, judgmental God (just read the Ten Commandments).

I'm not a right-winger, so my view of a Deity is more of a nurturing Goddess. Yes, I mean Goddess. The warmth and compassion of the mother energy, not the stern father energy.
