Dishonesty in politics
I was listening to NPR, yesterday, and they were talking about elections and the immigration issue. Please forgive me but I forget the name of the politician they spoke about. (two kids in the back seat) They stated how the Hispanic population grew quickly in California. Some politicians had run on an anti-immigration platform and the growing population came back to bite them in the butt.

There was much worry that this what would happen across the US. The Hispanic immigrant population is now expanding across the US and they could vote against a lot of the politicians who are against immigration or, at least, for very restricted immigration. The program talked about how they have to pay attention to these people and not alienate them.

All of this rubbed me the wrong way. Politics is no longer honest. It is made up of people who look at study groups and go with the flow. These politicians do not say what they honestly believe, they say what they believe will get them elected. I understand this is not new but now they are coming out and just saying it? How can you vote for someone if you do not know what they really stand for? Everything is just a facade to get elected.

How can we be expected to trust any of them when they say one thing and then vote another? Actions speak louder than words. When so many politicians are screaming their actions, how come more people are not listening and voting them out? I find the whole situation disgusting.

1. You'd think that
Hispanics were the only immigrant group. Okay, so they're a large number of our "illegal" or "undocumented" immigrants, but still.

This week's Time magazine has a cover story about India and points out we have a lot of Indians now living here, and they're helping to change this country also.

Immigrants are the best thing about this country. Since building a wall that will top 100 percent of illegal immigration isn't real practical, we should find a way to embrace them and make them part of our country. Or, actually enforce real sanctions against employers who hire them, make it ultimately much more expensive than paying citizens or legal immigrants a decent wage. And do what we can to help Mexico build up its economy.
