New Yorkers view Rudy as better president than Hillary
Latest Quinnipiac poll:

Rudy:
24% of New Yorkers think he would be a "great" president
37% think he would be a "good" president.
22% think he would be a "so-so" president.
16% think he would be a "bad" president

(interestingly 60% of New York City residents polled think Rudy would be a "great" or "good" president.)

Hillary:
16% think she would be a "great" president
33% think she would be a "good" president
23% think she would be a "so-so" president
26% think she would be a "bad" president

Of course since 9/11 Rudy has received nothing but glowing coverage in the media.

1. Rudy and McCain would both be strong candidates
In part because they could claim to be a break from the Bush administration (a false claim, particularly in McCain's case). They are both seen as moderate republicans.

I don't think the base likes either of them, but I suspect they could learn to like them.

3. and both have the media slobbering all over them too
I agree if either McCain or Rudy are nominated we could have trouble unless we have a spectacular candidate in our own right--somebody a little different who can attract votes in "red" states as well as blue because the problem with Rudy and McCain is that they could take a few "blue" states because they are preceived as independents.

2. And what chance will either have against Jeb Bush and Diebold?
Rudy and Hillary are just names the GOP throws around to raise money and keep the wanna-be's interested. Jeb Bush has everything it takes these days to become king: DNA from George HW Bush and the same corrupt machinery that denied Gore and Kerry the Whitehouse.

Voting every 4 years is just a pacification program until we get verifiable voting and access for all.

4. luckily Jeb won't run
and most polls show if another Bush is on the ballot he would lose overwhelmingly and I don't think even diebold could counter that.

6. I'm hoping Republican primary voters will dissemble Rudy Giuliani
long before he reaches the GOP convention floor in September 2008.

I disagree with those New Yorkers who rated him favorably. I hold him in almost complete contempt and hope his run at pseudo-heroism is short-lived once the primary debates begin.

7. Exactly...
I lived in NY for 4 years and couldn't stand the secretive, meglamaniacal, race-baiting bastard. The crime rate went down - but guess what, it went down everywhere. Just as it was hard not to be prosperous for most places during the economic boom of the 1990s.

8. hey, marmar. Good morning. With four years in New York you know
the situation with Rudy.

I just think he's bad news from the word 'go' and I'm crossing my fingers that Chuck Hagel puts the hurt to him in the debates.

If I were Rudy Giuliani -- god forbid -- I wouldn't want to face Hagel in a debate on the issues.

9. G'day Old Crusoe...
I, too, get frustrated with all the Rudy fans in New York. I think it's easier for people to see the rat in someone else's backyard than in their own.

11. Most of the Rudy fans live outside of NY
The people in NY know the score with Rudy. I don't buy the results of this poll at all. Just more M$M bs to promote their made for TV hero. Once the rest of the country finds out about Rudy's adulterous past and how he dumped his wife and young kids for a staffer, he won't get far.

13. Could this poll be the result of New York STATE voters
and not New York CITY voters? I think the city folks know he's trouble, but people outside of the city may not.

Besides, isn't the "liberal" media going to go after him for all his affairs like the did Clinton? :silly:

12. I disgaree with my fellow NYers about Rudy.
He'd suck as president. Not as bad as Bush of course, but as bad as Rumsfeld might be in that position.
