White supremacists rally at Civil War site

Sharpsburg // Calling themselves the "ghosts of the Confederacy," white supremacists from several groups held a rally at Antietam National Battlefield yesterday, the first time any group has been permitted to demonstrate at the site of the bloodiest day of the Civil War.

About 30 men, women and children gathered at what was a family farm at the time of the battle to commemorate their "forefathers" who "fought for our liberty as white men," said Gordon Young, imperial wizard of the World Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

A few donned the white robes characteristic of the Klan, while others identifying with the National Socialist Movement wore swastika arm bands and other mock-military uniforms.

Young, of Hagerstown, who was dressed in a brown business suit, said he had applied for a First Amendment permit so he and others could talk about "black-on-white crime," and his group's fight for "equal treatment as whites."

1. I am sure that we will see more and more of these rabid hate

groups being accepted as "part of America" because the GOP has to energize its base.

And I understand that Congress failed to pass the Voting Rights Act. So these nazi groups can continue to harangue and gagther until they get SCOTUS to return all blacks back to the status of "property.

2. So. If butter churns and hearth stoves were the attendant technologies

of the by-gone era favored by these groups, should they not also protest the use of microwave ovens and those little refrigerated tubs of margarine in the grocery stores?

Should they not try to pressure Catepillar and John Deere to shut down their operations worldwide in favor of plough horses pulling shitwagons through the dirt?

It's just real, real hard to respect people who elevate their own egos by hating others. Their time has passed and they remain dangerous because they don't know it yet.

This is a recent Minutemen rally. And yes, that's a Nazi flag there, third from the right.

Well, I've been saying all along that the Minutemen's core demographic is constituted of right-wing extremists, including many outright racists.
