How do Hispanic immigrants get here?
According to the Pew Hispanic Center, a good place to get stats about this issue, half of them enter legally through ports of entry. Since the illegal in "illegal immigrants" is about them crossing the border illegally, it seems to make the designation of "illegal immigrants" even more inaccurate. The PHC prefers to call them "unauthorized". Since this is a pdf file I can't copy and paste so you will have to read for yourselves.

It makes stationing the National Guards at the state borders a PR move by the Bush administration, which will have little effect, just as building a wall will.

6. There are more from Central America that swim the Rio Grande
along the way.
A now legal friend of mine escaped El Salvador that way. He's got some mind blowing stories to tell, needless to say.

3. The easiest way to get in is to take a trip to Disneyland
Cheaper than a coyote, really, and less of a hassle. Problem is, you need the cash up front, which many don't have. Once you're in, go on a few rides and melt into the society.

What they are is visa violators, in that circumstance.

4. A better question...
why do they come here? This business of building a wall is equivalent to the idea of "zero tolerance" during Reagan's war on drugs.

7. What about those brought over as infants , and kids?
To be illegal, that implies intent, there are many raised here with no citizenship, yetno intent to violate any law; they only know the USA.
Is it a big "Fuck you" to them Too?. They should be accomodated.

8. I agree, but I posted this because so much
inaccurate BS is being thrown out on this issue. Look for more in the days to come.

10. this is a very important point, but alas it will be lost
Also while crossing border "illegally" is in fact a crime, overstaying is a civil offense.
But many folks apparently don't see the difference.
