Half A Million Troops In Iraq!
DISCLAIMER: I have no military experience, but I watch The History Channel every chance I get and I came frightfully close to going to Viet Nam back in 1970. These two things make me at LEAST as qualified to plan a military operation as any member of the bu$h cartel. I respectfully crave the input of any and all DUers who have served or are currently serving in our Armed Forces.

If we can't Cut And Run, let's Get The Job Done. It was glaringly obvious to me that the US didn't send nearly enough troops, armor, munitions and materiel into Iraq to occupy and control that country. My initial feeling was that it would take at least 250,000 troops to do this, but I am now thinking more in terms of 500,000.

To restore any semblance of order to Iraq, we are going to have to seal the borders and systematically, methodically kill or imprison each and every Insurgent in the country. This may require an actual Declaration Of War by Congress, but I can't see any problem in getting that, since both Houses are controlled by Patriotic Republicans.

All active duty American Military Personnel will simply have to be reassigned from wherever they currently are to Iraq. I'm sure we also have a lot of big ships and jets and bombs and missles that we could also divert. Heck, we might not even have to actually use them all. Just the ominous certainty that the full might of the American War Machine was on its way might be enough to scare them Insurgents into laying down their arms and giving up, they way it did back when Bush The Elected was kicking ole Saddam's ass out of Kuwait.

Now, we might have to have us a Military Draft to raise enough troops to accomplish this, but I'm sure that would be no problem for a Republican Congress to ram through--especially with those all-important Mid-Term Elections coming up and the burning need for the GOP to show this country what Staying The Course really means!

See how SIMPLE this is? I can't believe that nobody's thought of it already! Next time the Pugs start hollering "Cut and run," all the Democrats have to do is say "Well, let's put half a million troops in Iraq and Git-R-DONE!"

Patriotically Yours,

3. 500,000 U.S. troops in Iraq = 4 times the current casualty rate
with nothing positive accomplished politically. The type of warfare now being used by the insurgents would be more successful against the increased number of troops. We are in a situation that pits asymmetrical forces against each other and the side with the smaller force is able to have victorious advantages. The outcome of the Iraqi war has already been determined. The U.S. has lost it. The only remaining question is how long will the American people allow the Republican administration to carry out their fantasy horror program.

4. "systematically, methodically kill or imprison each and every Insurgent"
Ah, yes that would be the Final Solution to the Iraqi problem.

No thanks. We have no business, zero, none, in Iraq.
