1. The World is Flat is an awful book.
You'd be much better off reading Amartya Sen and Joe Stiglitz.

3. And Greg Palast couldn't be far from the top 10...
Liberals read, Conservatives listen to Limbaugh and O'Reilly.

18. I think we all know what kind of books YOU look for!
And I'm guessing that Amazon doesn't sell them!

:hi:

6. You may want to force-refresh your browser
I just checked again and it's still as I listed.

I know they update hourly... but FOUR titles critical of BushCo and/or the culture they promote... well, it's something to behold.

9. Yes, she's there, at #3, but #1, #4, #7 and #9 are all still as I O.P.
I'm not sure what you are getting at here...?

11. You know that the people buying the 4 books I point out
Aren't bothering with the 1 book that she wrote. They just want to fill up on the hate. Facts and reality mean nothing to them.

13. The World is Flat?

Why can't this pile of garbage die already...

If America *is* waking up, that thing will put them right back to sleep again. (And for the inevitable defenders, yes, I've read it, read the critics, read the critics' critics. I still say Friedman is a hack without the capability of forming an original thought, much less coherently expressing even unoriginal ideas.)

14. The dollar store crowd
There is a kind of dollar store here that stocks lots of old Repub books for $1. Last week there was even one by Poppy.

17. That book makes no effort to engage in a discussion about the issues
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 12:22 AM by 1932
it addresses.

He not only gives one side of the story, he presents a side that a fifth grader could intuit without doing any outside research at all.

He's a total Pollyanna and I think the only people who would enjoy that book are people who don't realize there's actually an interesting debate about globalization going on that has been addressed by smart people like Amartya Sen and Stiglitz.
