How would you respond to this post:
From a puke (who is actually somewhat decent):
"To everyone who hates George W. Bush, and therefore, Blames America for everything that you consider wrong in the World.

Okay. Now it's your turn. Put your money where your mouth is.

Since everyone here is so decidedly against everything that has taken place since the 2000 election in America. Stolen elections, Forget 911, it's no longer a topic to discuss, The War on Terror is all a hoax, The War in Iraq was just the result of a former Big Oil Texas Businessman's selfishness, and on, and on as you like.

Let's just say, everyone you oppose on this forum, and everyone you label as a Neocon, or Bushie decides, right here, right now. Everything you have been saying is absolutely true, and we all agree with you now.....to become likeminded non-thinkers, and agree to become the appeasers you want us to become.

Let's also say...Okay. Go ahead. Demand that All of our Troops be brought home within the next month or two!

Let's also agree with you. Time to stop defending ourselves with our military, and time to Beg Osama Bin Laden, and every known terrorist to come and sit down with us, to negotiate, and agree that the Terrible America is to blame for everything...YOU have stated....we have caused around the world.

And finally. Let's say....All Republicans refuse to seek any future positions in the House and Senate, placing all Democrats in charge, as well as the White House.

The newly elected House, and Senate actually go forward with the promises of Impeaching Bush.....and a purely Liberal, Democrat from, let's say, Moveon.org, or Hollywood determines the future of America, rather than You, as a citizen.

Whereby, taxes immediately begin to go back to the Clinton Era days, Unemployment levels return to those days, Social Security is not discussed, Oil prices are leveled off at present day rates, Forclosure laws are recinded, and All Illegal Immegrants are granted the Amnesty you so dearly want, while avoiding any further prevention of illegal immigrants on any of our borders.

What exactly, if you can honestly say it without a smile on your face, do you suppose America will look like....if and when you choose to permit all of the above to take place?"

Well how would you respond. Come on DU, I think we can all win this contest.

1. The person who wrote that is not "somewhat decent",
he's a moron. His extrapolation from our dislike of Bush and the Iraq war to "beg Osama" etc is idiotic. "non-thinkers and appeasers"--yeah right. This rightard is a class A non-thinker. His points are those of a dolt.

First Clinton did a much better job at enforcing the immigration laws than Chimpy has done, and that was before the 9/11 attack. The guy needs to get a clue. What has Bush done about immigration in 6 years? The rightards haven't even talked about it until they needed a wedge issue for the 2006 elections.

Second, the Democrats would have got Osama bin Laden after 9/11 and brought him to justice. We would not have invaded a country that had NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11. Bush let Osama bin Laden escape AFTER 9/11.

Third, no problem putting taxes back at the Clinton rates--that would be a huge positive for the economy and wouldn't be noticed by the lowest 70% of the workforce. As for unemployment, Clinton created 20 million jobs over 8 years. Busholini has created maybe 2 million over 6. We would have a much stronger economy and stock market with the Democrats in charge. We would have balanced budgets. Social Security wouldn't be a problem.

Fourth, foreclosure laws? What the fu_k is the nitwit talking about. There were foreclosures under Clinton.

2. And who's to say that the result
wouldn't be better for America than letting for-profit corporations decide our fate? That's the alternative the people in charge right now are allowing to go forward. Are we, as a nation, seeing any great returns for our sacrifices?

Hell, no. All but the most wealthy among us are being asked to sacrifice more and more. Our paltry "tax cuts" are countered by rising interest rates, soaring gas prices, and the beginnings of skyrocketing inflation.

While the ultra-rich go on vacation and spend their money elsewhere.

If that's good for America, I'll eat dirt.

is really stupid. If the taxes go back to what they were I would gladly give up my 300$ in return from the millions that the wealthy got.

5. My response (for what it's worth) ...
Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 10:57 PM by NanceGreggs
"To everyone who hates George W. Bush, and therefore, Blames America for everything that you consider wrong in the World."

Your original premise is faulty. Yes, I hate George Bush, for what he has done to my country. However, I do not BLAME AMERICA for everything I consider to be wrong in the world. Those two concepts do not go hand-in-hand, any more than Republicans hating Bill Clinton automatically translated as their blaming America for everything that happened during his administration.

"Okay. Now it's your turn. Put your money where your mouth is."

That's part of the problem. America's money IS where this president's MOUTH is. He handed no-bid contracts to corporations like Halliburton. They now can't ACCOUNT for where that money (billions of dollars) went, and Bush sees no reason to investigate that. And dare we even mention the LIVES that have been put on the line?

"Since everyone here is so decidedly against everything that has taken place since the 2000 election in America. Stolen elections, Forget 911, it's no longer a topic to discuss, The War on Terror is all a hoax, The War in Iraq was just the result of a former Big Oil Texas Businessman's selfishness, and on, and on as you like."

Let's break that down into coherent sentences (or at least make an attempt to do so). Yes, we ARE against just about everything that has taken place since the 2000 election. And so should YOU be, if you put your Americanism above your Bushism.

Since the 2000 election, the country has been plunged into record-breaking debt, American jobs are being outsourced to other countries on a daily basis, schools are under-funded, hospitals are being bankrupted, millions of Americans have fallen below the poverty level, we have more homeless, more hungry, more sick without medical coverage, and now crime is on the upswing. And while all of this has been happening, the wealthiest Americans have been given tax breaks and corporations that are seeing historic profit levels are being given not only tax BREAKS, but SUBSIDIES at the taxpayers' expense.

Not a single Democrat or Liberal wants to FORGET 9/11. WE were the ones who pushed for investigations into 9/11, in order to determine what went wrong, how another event like this can be averted, and how our present procedures could be improved to avoid a repeat. It was Bush and his administration who FOUGHT those investigations at every turn. So if you want to know WHO wants to FORGET 9/11, look to the White House.

As for 'stolen elections', this should not be a partisan issue. The fact that electronic voting machines have been proven, time and again, to be easily manipulated and hackable should concern EVERY voter. And if the Republicans want fair elections, WHY do they consistently oppose the testing and/or removal of ANY voting method that could thwart the will of the voters?

"Let's just say .. we all agree with you now.....to become likeminded non-thinkers, and agree to become the appeasers you want us to become."

We who think the country is headed in the wrong direction are not APPEASERS; quite the contrary, we march, rally, demonstrate, and protest because we will not BE APPEASED by rhetoric, nor attemot to appease others. We DO THINK, and that is the problem you seem to have with us. We look at the facts and form our own opinions (which often differ, one from each other), instead of 'staying the course' with a president and policies that are proving to be disastrous.

"Let's also say...Okay. Go ahead. Demand that All of our Troops be brought home within the next month or two!"

On a personal level, yes, I would withdraw the troops immediately. This so-called war is not winnable - and if you will remember, it was not presented as a 'war', but as the 'liberation of the Iraqi people'. Maybe you haven't been paying attention, but they don't seem to be very 'liberated', do they? This is not a 'war on terrorism'; this is a war on the Iraqi population -- and if you're in doubt, they have the casualties to prove it.

"Let's also agree with you. Time to stop defending ourselves with our military, and time to Beg Osama Bin Laden, and every known terrorist to come and sit down with us, to negotiate, and agree that the Terrible America is to blame for everything...YOU have stated....we have caused around the world."

It was your president himself who stated that he would "get bin Laden, dead or alive." He would smoke him out, hunt him down, do whatever it took -- he later said, "Well, he's just one guy. I don't know where he is, and quite frankly, I don't really care." And I have yet to hear any Democrat or Liberal suggest bringing bin Laden (or any other murderer of American citizens) to sit down and negotiate. Bush repeatedly PROMISED to bring bin Laden to justice -- but then, we all know how good Bush is at keeping his word.

"Let's say....All Republicans refuse to seek any future positions in the House and Senate, placing all Democrats in charge, as well as the White House. The newly elected House, and Senate actually go forward with the promises of Impeaching Bush.....and a purely Liberal, Democrat from, let's say, Moveon.org, or Hollywood determines the future of America, rather than You, as a citizen."

You think that Democrats/Liberals and Hollywood/Moveon.org are one and the same? Try thinking that through. Al Gore and John Kerry are not exactly 'Hollywood' material. If we were choosing our candidates on that basis, we would have run people who had box-office appeal rather than people with actual IDEAS for running the country -- in other words, we would have gone with a pseudo-cowboy with aw-shucks, down-home charm -- like a spoiled New England rich kid passing himself off as a Texan.

"Whereby, taxes immediately begin to go back to the Clinton Era days, Unemployment levels return to those days, Social Security is not discussed, Oil prices are leveled off at present day rates, Forclosure laws are recinded, and All Illegal Immegrants are granted the Amnesty you so dearly want, while avoiding any further prevention of illegal immigrants on any of our borders."

Yes, the Democrats have been labeled the 'tax-and-spend' party -- that would be in opposition to the 'cut taxes and BORROW' Republicans. Question: Have you ever run up your credit card, and the bank calls you and says, "Hey, don't worry about it. We're not expecting to be repaid, and FORGET the interest, too!" Wake up, brother. EVERY PENNY that this administration has borrowed to fund those tax cuts is going to have to be repaid, WITH interest - and they have borrowed that money from countries that you probably don't even like!

As for amnesty for illegal immigrants -- that is BUSH'S plan. Still disagree with it now?

"What exactly, if you can honestly say it without a smile on your face, do you suppose America will look like....if and when you choose to permit all of the above to take place?"

That's a simple one: I suppose it would look like it USED to look, when the USA was a shining example of democracy and freedom, and not a place where its own citizens were wire-tapped on spied on, a place where the next generation inherited a BETTER country and not back-breaking debt, where American jobs STAYED in America, where we did not invade, occupy and kill the citizens of countries that never attacked us, where elections are fair and government is transparent, and not something conducted secretly in the back rooms of the White House under the guise of 'national security reasons'.

And when I imagine my country being back to the way it was BB (before Bush), the smile on my face is indescribable.

The words "Time to stop defending ourselves with our military, and time to Beg Osama Bin Laden..." are so ludicrous that I knew it was going to go downhill at this point. Nice to try to give a little at the beginning, but it was just a simple minded ploy to play the usual and completely ridiculous "old RW lies & fear-mongering" game. Bzzzzzzzt - YOU LOSE!!

14. I Don't Think Your "Somewhat Decent" "Puke" Wrote This Himself
Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 11:58 PM by AndyTiedye
To everyone who hates George W. Bush,

I don't hate Bush**, I just want him removed from office and put in prison where he can't do any more harm.
I expect that the U.N. Prison in the Hague is run with proper attention to the human rights of its prisoners.

and therefore, Blames America for everything that you consider wrong in the World.

non sequitur.

Since everyone here is so decidedly against everything that has taken place since the 2000 election in America.

Well, you have to admit, things were a lot better BEFORE that election. Even by Republican standards. The stock market was soaring, we had peace and prosperity.
Our fiscal house was in good order, we were running a $1/4-trillion budget SURPLUS and starting to pay off the national debt.

Stolen elections

Elections are the core of democracy. If the elections are being stolen, our democracy is being stolen.

Forget 911

No. Don't forget. INVESTIGATE. Where's the other half of that Intelligence Cmte. report?

The War on Terror is all a hoax, The War in Iraq was just the result of a former Big Oil Texas Businessman's selfishness, and on, and on as you like.

We haven't gotten a much more convincing explanation for why we are in Iraq than that.
We know that the WMDs never existed, and we know they knew that the documents they were presenting were fake.

and agree to become the appeasers you want us to become.

Appease what? Iraq didn't attack us.

Let's also say...Okay. Go ahead. Demand that All of our Troops be brought home within the next month or two!

Sounds good to me. They aren't doing anybody any good there now.
How can our troops keep peace in a civil war when most of them can't even speak the language?

Time to stop defending ourselves with our military

It's time to use our military to defend ourselves, instead of waging war on countries that are no threat to us.
These men joined the military under the assumption that they would be defending our country.
What they are being ordered to do in Iraq has nothing to do with defending our country.

and time to Beg Osama Bin Laden

What about Osama Bin Ladin? Bush lost interest in him real quick for someone who was the supposed mastermind of 9/11.
Let him get away in Afghanistan, and then he said, "I am just not all that concerned about Osama Bin Ladin", as he
prepared to send our Army into Iraq, the home of none of the 9/11 hijackers.

every known terrorist to come and sit down with us, to negotiate,

How else do you get terrorist organizations to lay down their arms? You can't kill them all.

agree that the Terrible America is to blame for everything...

However evil the BFEE may be, they do have some competition.

And finally. Let's say....All Republicans refuse to seek any future positions in the House and Senate, placing all Democrats in charge, as well as the White House.

I have some hope that a number of them will retire out of pure shame if the truth ever comes out about them.

The newly elected House, and Senate actually go forward with the promises of Impeaching Bush.....

!!!!!YAY!!!! :party::party::party::party:

and a purely Liberal, Democrat from, let's say, Moveon.org, or Hollywood determines the future of America, rather than You, as a citizen.

Thing is, if we do it our way, you as a citizen actually have your vote counted so you really do have some voice in determining the future of the country.
That is how our country is supposed to work. It says so in the Constitution.

Whereby, taxes immediately begin to go back to the Clinton Era days

I'd be OK with Clinton Era taxes if we can get the Clinton Era economy back! We could use a bit of the Clinton Era budget surplus too.
Other countries (that buy our dollars) are getting a bit antsy about all the red ink flowing from the Bush** administration.

Unemplment levels return to those days

We SHOULD campaign on that one. The Clinton Era job market was as close to full employment as we've ever gotten.

Social Security is not discussed

By all means discuss it! Let's talk about the Repubs' efforts to trash it.

Oil prices are leveled off at present day rates

Which is better than going up 3X, which is what the Saudis say will happen if we invade Iran.

Forclosure laws are recinded

Not sure what he's talking about here. Forclosure is a feature of a mortgage contract. If there are laws regulating it, we would not be likely to want to rescind those.

All Illegal Immegrants are granted the Amnesty you so dearly want, while avoiding any further prevention of illegal immigrants on any of our borders.

That actually would be an improvement over the present situation. If the workers were legal, employers could not so easily violate wage and labor laws in their employment.
The workers could also unionize. The flood of illegal workers has broken many of our unions.
