What was your favorite political moment of 2005?
Mine is probably when Reid closed the senate and than Murtha coming out strong for a pullout asap.

3. Watching the repugs act like fools over Terri Schrivo ...
it's a sin the way they politicized her, all the way to *. But it also shows how low they'll go to please their "constituents".

17. That was my favorite, too.
The sight of * flying back from the "ranch" to sign that bill was a reward in itself. BTW, whatever happened to all that right-to-life legislation to prevent more people in Schiavo's condition from dying? No one wants to talk about it anymore.

...and its lack of media coverage (except for C-Span, of course).:patriot:

5. Not sure if this is "political" enough - Scotty's press conferences
especially after Jon Stewart or Keith Olbermann gets a hold of them.

Mugabe calls Rice a 'slave'
11/02/2005 22:58 - (SA)

Harare - President Robert Mugabe on Friday sharply criticised US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, saying she was a "slave" to white masters in Washington who had branded Zimbabwe an outpost of tyranny.

8. I thoroughly enjoyed the Fitzmas season...
and am hoping for a repeat performance. This year has been such a learning experience...like cramming for an exam. With each new 'scandal' came another reading frenzy to get me up to speed with the various people, places, and things. I now have a world map on the wall beside my bed, so when I'm reading at night...I can figure out where these far-away places are. My outlook on life will never be the same...and that's a good thing.

9. 1st DC Dem DNC Chair candidate failing.

Or maybe it was the second candidate for DNC Chairman to be sponsored by DC Democrats failing in the face of grassroots opposition.

Actually, I think it was the third one's failure that opened my eyes up to the fact that a change was in the wind.

Of course, the fourth's failure is when it started becoming really funny.

On the other hand, the fifth's failure is when I came to the realization that my longtime support for moderate Democrats had been mistaken. With these guys so completely clueless and desperate during the election for the chair of the DNC, it is no wonder the Democratic Party lost so much after the DLC take over in 1992.

10. Fitzgerald's press conference
It was so nice. Shutting down the senate too. Murtha. Plummetting poll numbers. We have a lot to do but we have a lot to be thankful for.

11. I think it was when that dimwit Mel Martinez handed the Schiavo memo
to Tom Harkin on the Senate floor and told him "Here's some great talking points to use against Democrats."

12. When bush couldn't get out of the door...
and the press conference,I believe after Katrina with Bush 41,43 and Clinton . Bush was afraid to answer questions and ran out of the room leaving Clinton and his dad standing there. Does anyone remember the particulars of this press conference?

13. The November elections this year.
Dems won the two big governor races, NJ and VA IIRC. Also, the Gropenator's propositions got smacked down in California.
