Responding to "the economy is strong, just certain groups don't see it."
OK, we need to hit back. If the rich won't contribute in a meaningful manner to the national community and continue to suck it dry, and the poor can't, then the economy really teeters on the backs of a strapped and dwindling middle class AND a monstrous mountain of funny money and debt. We need to condense that message into something that is easily understood and conveyed. I'm not a huge expert on economics but is there a way to get this out there concisely?

1. Simple, a Reaganesque question from the 80's
Are better off now, than four years ago? Or In Shub's case
"Are Better Off Now under Bush, than when Bill Clinton was in Office?"

2. "certain groups" - meaning about 90% of the country
well, maybe more like 70% if you don't include the legions of deluded people living in the great land of Denial.

4. the increase in energy prices is working it's way through the retail
and service industry. I've seen prices for everything jumping as of late. As such, it will start to affect what's left of the middle class.

10. Here's An INTERESTING Stastistic In The Latest Harper's
Estimated change since 2001 in total number og U.S. private sector jobs: +1,900,000

Estimated number of new private sector jobs created by government spending during that time: 2,800,000

That's right, the recent "job growth" is courtesy of the incredible shrinking Republican government.

13. Collect all the economic stats about how great things are if you're rich..
Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 12:49 PM by BlooInBloo
... and list em off:

If you're rich, your taxes just went down by 10%
If you're rich, you've been given...
If you're rich, you're allowed to deduct luxury items.
.
.
.

Just read off a long list like that. Then end with:

If you make $45,000/year, you get $213 in refund.

End.

EDIT: The point of this kind of thing is that I don't think republican voters truly understand how they're being economically used by the fatcat republicans. I suspect that if this were made clear, a lot of the republican voters would realize that their bigotry against gay folks, women, and black folks isn't enough to justify them making someone else rich at their own expense.
