Download and print this: http://www.climatecrisis.net/pdf/10things.pdf

Make copies, LOTS of copies.

Then grab your tacks and a stapler and post them on every bulliten board and light post you can find.

(don't staple to trees please)

Ready, go! :bounce:

2. Thanks!
Going to Staples in the morning... will 500 do for starters? I may even involve the kids! (Their legs work better than mine).

3. I need to change a few more light bulbs and
bitch at the kids more about turning things off.

Everything else I already do, or don't apply (no car).

I should plant a tree... it's been a few years.

The only one I have an issue with is recycling. We seriously need to take a look at the recycling process in this country. Sure, we save trees, but the amount of water and energy it takes to recycle paper is enormous, ALMOST as much as it takes to process virgin paper. We need to take a hard look at the process and make it better.

4. Recycling paper..maybe you have a point. Recycling plastic is
what really saves C02 production, I think.

7. It's not just about recycling; it's also about keeping it out of the
landfills (which require energy to maintain).

6. Unplugging electrical appliances/gadgets will save about 10% of
your electrical usage. Most - even those without clocks and other glowing lights - are poorly designed and draw electricity even if turned off but still plugged in. (As for toasters: some national association of fire fighters recommends always keeping them unplugged except when in use due to fire hazard).

Really sad that one tree can absorb only about 1 ton of carbon in its lifetime, while leaving TVs/computers/DVDs/stereos on when not in use generates a lot more.

10. There's a typo.
Under Adjust your Thermostat it should say "Moving your thermostat DOWN just 2 degrees in winter..."
They forgot the "Down".
Other than that, great flyer, will put some up around town.
