Cal Thomas: "Fox ---There's only so much trailer trash pie to go around"
Cal Thomas referring to Fox News Channel: "There's only so much of that trailer trash pie to go around"

While talking about the shake up at MSNBC, Cal Thomas was very candid about what FOX News is really all about.

Thomas: "All of them are trying to copy FOX News now to be honest. Many of them are doing tabloid, more big lipped blonde's and all this kind of stuff. There's only so much of that trailer trash pie to go around."

Everyone on the set laughed because____? What type of pie did he have in mind?

Thanks for being so honest about FOX News. Will Bill O'Reilly want Cal fired next?

some of their basic ideas. They come from the position that regular people are just stupid drones who should participate in government as little as possible. Unless you count fighting wars as participating in government, of course.

6. I hate the term "trailer trash". It's almost as bad as the term
"repugnant lower class", that Bush's latest advisor used. I never really thought about it till I read this Diary on Daily Kos today entitled "Trailer Trash".

8. actually it is a racist term referring to white people, as N+++++ is

7. Is this that liberal elitism I've heard so much about?
I wonder if Roger Ailes gave Thomas a phone call to remind him that only liberals are supposed to imply that the fans of Fox News are "trailer trash".

However, I would have to agree though. The news media has become much more of a tabloid media. And they certainly sexed it up and threw in a dash of sensationalism.

It used to be Dan Rather, Barbara Walters, 60 Minutes, Buckley, Point Counterpoint. Now we have Sean Hannity, Nancy Grace, The O'Reilly Factor, Glenn Beck, and Savage Nation.

9. So Cal, is your FOX check direct deposit , or do you fondle it,
and stare at it and think what a lucky guy you are? Talking about your fan base like that
shows that you and your pals have jumped the shark.

That's the difference between us and them. They despise the ones they lie to every day. We tell them the truth, and care that they know.

10. So far, "despise & disinform" seems to be winning.

When you don't care what you say, it's easy to get it into a soundbite that will fit into the attention span of the average gnat-brained American. And I don't mean "trailer trash." Lots of accountants, middle-management types, etc. fit the mold.

Edited to add:

I recall listening to a car dealership owner & someone else of his approximate economic status, both of them worth at least a few mil, going on about how the WMD had been moved to Syria, etc. They were rattling off what I presume to be Rush's talking points of the day like two good little boys reciting their catechism, propping up each other's delusional system during hard times. That image has stuck with me as symbolic of what we're facing.
