Who does the House of Representatives represent?
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 12:40 PM by spanone
A majority of Americans are opposed to the illegal war in Iraq. The House of Representatives does not represent the majority of Americans, so just who do they represent? The time will come.

4. I'm guessing
that is pay's not to listen to the people, but pay's really well listening to the deep pocketed multi-nationals, Wall Street, and so on.

13. Their own political ambition
Yes, the represent corporate lobbyists, as well as a small tyrannical minority of Americans, but when it all comes down to it, they only represent their own political ambition and thirst for power, as well as their own pride - too proud to admit they were wrong.

What WE want does not matter ..ONE BIT.. What their benefactors want (lobbyists) want is ALL that matters..

YOU are my congressperson/senator, and you are MY employee. You supposedly serve at MY 'pleasure'. The pleasure seems to have been ALL yours...for a very long time. You are not royalty. You are just an elected representative..That's ALL you are.

When we look back at what you have done for many years, it's apparent that once you are 'on the job', any thoughts of the people who chose you quickly descend into the cobwebby little corners of your souls, never to be seen again...until you want us to re-elect you.

All we have ever expected of you was for you to actually represent us. You see, we count on you to get together as a group and work out the problems of our day, so OUR lives (yours included) will actually BE worth living.

More and more of us "out here" are doing without, as we see you and yours living it up...on our dime.
We see you gallivanting around on private jets, taking chi-chi vacations to the Caribbean in January, working NINETY SEVEN days out of 365 (and not working all that hard, when you do). We see you attending all the fancy parties with your trophy spouses, and kissing up to the media so they think of you as their "best Bud" (it's hard to get up much enthusiasm to do hard reporting on someone who takes you golfing to all the best courses, or helps your kid get into a great school).

So, while lots of us are selling Grandma's jewelry so we can fill our gas tanks, or working 2 or 3 jobs to put a roof over our heads, it's kind of disheartening to know in our gut, that your interests are anything BUT us.

We see you on C-span, spouting your flowery, antiquated speeches that fool no one (except yourselves). You see, out here in the real world, we deal with REAL language...harsh language..."The plant is closing".."Your Grandmother has cancer"..."the car repair will cost $800.00"..."Tuition will cost $3,700.00"... "the rent is going up $100.00"..."The field trip will cost $150.00"..."That procedure is not covered"...and of course the ever-ubiquitous "Want fries with that?".

The people who still vote actually would LIKE to see their votes count, and yet most of you don't seem to mind that our election system seems hopelessly complicated, convoluted and downright crooked. each side accuses the other of "cheating", and unfortunately as you nibble at the edges of voting legislation, it only gets worse.

As much as you profess to love your job, and how you have our best interests at heart, it just does not ring true. Even when you lose an election, you still "win". The money it cost you to run, was not yours, and the job you "lost" willl be replaced by an even more lucrative one...lobbying your former colleagues. The lobby jobs seem to be the ultimate goal here. "Serving" in congress almost seems to be on-the-job training for the better things to come AFTER the government pension is secured. Most of us out here don't even HAVE pensions, no matter how hard we work or how long we work. You have seen to that for us. Companies never want to honor their promises made, and you have re-written rules that just allow them to turn their backs on us all.

We know that some of you try to stay clean and are serious about your duties, but when you look away from those in your own party who ARE cheating and gaming the system, it taints you as well, because after doing that, YOU have also lost the moral high ground. It becomes impossible to take a stand against corrpution if your name is attached to the same issue, if only tangentially.

Money has supplanted honor, but we really do need to get you back on track or we all go down together.

We need for you to do some soul-searching. (We hear you talking about your faith all the time, so you think you still have a soul)

Start thinking about US first, for a change

Take a scheduled flight instead of a corporate jet...(you might actually meet some ordinary people)
Simplify laws for US, not those who would oppress us
Realize that tainted elections eat at us like cancer, and destroy any faith in legitimacy of our elections
Don't coddle corrupt colleagues, as you vilify the opposition for similar (or lesser) 'evils'..(it makes you look overly-partisan..and stupid)
Jump OFF the bandwagon..(we expect you to represent US...not just go along with the crowd)
Resist the temptation to put your family on the payroll for bigs bucks..
Quit the lying.. (we see through it)

Deal? or No Deal?

and:

I'm having some problems with my employees

These people did everything but slip me cash under the table to get me to hire them.

They showed me references out the wa-zoo

They said they knew how to DO the job.. in fact had lots of experience

They knew that the job required some researching and involved a learning curve

They assured me they were willing to do what it took to do the work

They knew that I would be watching how they progressed, and now they act all pissed off whenever I mention something to them that would help them do their job the right way

Now I learn that they are having outsiders do their work for them

They write themselves checks for pay raises without my permission

They have bought excellent medical benefits with MY money, and have canceled MY health care

They are taking bribes and doing favors for their friends, with MY assets

They are lying and covering up their misdeeds

They rarely work...instead take off weeks at a time, and go gallivanting around the world..and send ME the bills for their travel

They're sneaking around behind my back, cutting deals with my competitors and GIVING them MY equipment

I want to fire them all, but apparently they have a contract and I have to wait until then, and have to have my friends go with me and kick them out.

They will not go willingly ...I may need LOTS of Help.... What say you grab a torch and join me ?

17. The House is the only place I really have a representative
but my rep is outnumbered. I'm not represented at all in the Senate. Since my Congressperson is out numbered and I have no one in the Senate, can I start a tax revolt called "no taxation without representation"?
