9. He used all of the talking points of - Iraq no threat, lied to,
will be in Iraq forever, voted against the war, I wouldn't have believed there was a single repug in Congress that would speak the way this guy did just now. He even made fun of the term "cut and run."

I'm betting he will lose every bennie in Congress he enjoys in retaliation. The repugs cannot allow (or afford) any wildcatters that go off the talking points.

10. My representative - one of the few decent Republicans left.
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 11:15 AM by Clark2008
He voted against the IRW in 2002.

He was against it because he knew we hadn't finished in Afghanistan and because it would cost too much money on our strained budget to fight a war on such weak information.

Edited to add this:

In a speech two weeks earlier, “Hidden Costs of War,” Rep. Duncan pointed out the sad realities of the war: “the most unfortunate thing has been the more than 1,700 young Americans who have been killed there now, and the some 12,000 who have been wounded, many of them severely wounded, maimed for life, in what was a totally unnecessary war.” He reminded people that before this war started he told people “that there was nothing conservative about this war; that it was going to mean massive foreign aid, which conservatives have traditionally been against; that it was going to mean huge deficit spending, which conservatives have traditionally been against.” He highlighted the comments of Lawrence Lindsey, who was the President's leading economic adviser until he was fired for his comments on the war, who said before the war started that “it would cost $100 billion to $200 billion. Now, by the end of this fiscal year, we are going to be at the astounding figure of $300 billion. And I think the only reason more people are not upset about that is that it is humanly impossible to truly comprehend a figure as high as $300 billion.”

12. he's right, there's nothing conservative....
....about this war OR this administration!!

And another thing that really bothers me is the way most of these right wingers try to discouage views that are different from their own!! If anyone in this administration begins to express a different idea, they get rid of them!

In the past, other Presidents (and I believe I heard even Bush 41 did this too) have wanted to hear different opinions so that they could get a clear picture of a situation and possibly avoid future problems. Certainly we all enjoy it when people agree with us........that's just human nature. But there is also a benefit from hearing dissenting opinions.

When are the small minds, who are in charge now, going to learn that a problem doesn't go away just because you don't talk about it?
